“Fun authentic house, perfect for families who want to explore the caves and coast”
Reviewed 7 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

We were 2 families with 4 kids staying at this house, and we spent 3 nights there. We received a fantastic welcome from the host Sasha, who showed us everything and gave us lots of recommendations on nearby attractions and restaurants. He was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay, and the house itself was very charming and unique - maybe not best for toddlers as it includes a rooftop area but great for our kids aged 8 and up. It's located in a village that doesn't have much to offer, but is very close to attractions like the famous Postonja cave and castle, and within a fairly short drive from Piran and the Slovenian beaches. The one thing we lacked was more fans as it got very hot and only one out of 3 bedrooms had a fan. Otherwise very happy!

“Wonderful old farmhouse from which to explore the Karst and even trip into Italy”
Reviewed 4 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Vila Dane is great and our host Sasha couldn't have been more helpful. As 2 families there was plenty of room to spread out, chill out and eat together. We hired bikes from Sasha and he showed us local rides. We were amazed how easy it was to get to places including the Italian coast by car.

“Fantastic peaceful accommodation, fantastic hosts!”
Reviewed 19 January 2014 for a stay in May 2013

We are a family of 5 (kids aged 7,12, 14) and we spent 5 nights in this amazing property. Wish we could have stayed longer. Sasha and Jasna were very friendly and welcoming, knowledgeable about the area and willing to help out in whatever way possible to make our stay memorable. We hope to be able to see them again one day, in Dane or in Australia! My children enjoyed playing with Joy, the dog! The house was very clean, exceptionally well equipped in the kitchen, and nicely decorated. Lovely to sit by the (closed) fire with a good book. The courtyard was a great area to relax in, cook in the bbq and eat and we loved exploring the old farm building that encloses the courtyard, and the cellar, where Sasha makes liqueurs and we enjoyed a tasting. Wifi worked best in the sunroom at the front. Goos supermarket in Sezana only minutes away. So much to do in this area and you are perfectly placed in a small village to go easily in many directions, definitely recommend Lipica stud farm, Predjama castle and Postojna caves. We also had day trips to Ljubljana, Croatia and the seaside. We had an enjoyable and tasty lunch at the Grahor Hotel, walking distance from Vila Dane. Kids were safe to roam around the village, and there is a playground nearby. There is an open roof that parents with young children would need to be careful of, can lock a door inside and would just have to block off a flight of stairs to make it safe, but not a big problem, our 7 yo didn't fall off! Would definitely recommend this accommodation, and would love to go back one day!

Liked best: The history of Vila dane and meeting Sasha and Jasna

“A Terrific Place to Stay!”
Reviewed 29 May 2013 for a stay in May 2013

My husband and I and our friend stayed at Vila Dane for four days on our way to the World Dog Show in Hungary. We had two dogs with us and the enclosed 200 yr old courtyard was fantastic for the dogs. There were three bedrooms and two living areas in the modern, updated house as well as the most fully stocked kitchen I have ever seen in a rental. Pro food slicer, food mill, ricers, all the pots and pans and cutlery one could hope for....There was also an outside barbeque in the courtyard that we found most relaxing while cooking on the wood fired grill. A wine cellar on premises as well as a selection of their home produced wine and a lovely array of homemade fruit liqueurs were in the cabinet for use at a very nominal charge. Our hosts were so friendly and helpful giving us all kinds of information on places to explore and visit. We have stayed in many places that are designed for renters....slick and clean with a few pots and pans etc but this place was really like moving into a real home. Hats off to Vila Dane even if it is a bit difficult to find even with navi. Not to worry tho, the area is very small so you cannot be lost for more than a minute or two!

Liked best: How well stocked the property was. I've never seen a rental kitchen quite like this as far as equipment offered.
Liked least: There was one step down into our bedroom area that was like a normal stair but not secured to the floor. Both my husband and I hit this and almost fell when it slid under pressure. Forgot to mention this to Sasa. I wish I could have such a small "com
