If you want to stay at Tetramnska Lomnica's high-end Hyatt, this is it. The main areas and hallways are quite grand and have hints of the building's history, but the rooms (we stayed in the new section, as opposed to the old which we did not see) are basically on par with a standard upper echelon US chain. Clean, small, well put together - and generally pretty forgettable. The balconies are about 5 by 5 max and accomodate 2 chars, if you put them close together. The breakfast buffet was absolutely delicious (the crepes, wow), the hotel staff was very attentive, and the spa (sauna, hot tub, cold plunge, pool, tepidarium) was great. That said, we couldn't escape the feeling we were staying in a US chain hotel, which in such a charming town in Slovakia, felt off in some ways. Also, the beds were super stiff, not a great mattress (or even really very good) for a 4 star hotel.
It can be very confusing from afar to figure out what the hotels in this area are like, so, here goes. There are hotels and Penzions (smaller inns) in each town. The towns are placed in a semi circle around the base of the Tatra Mountains. If you hike over the mountains, chances are you will come down in Poland. This hotel seemed to be the fanciest hotel (by reviews) in a town, in general. Even fancier would be...If you want to stay at Tetramnska Lomnica's high-end Hyatt, this is it. This hotel seemed to be the fanciest hotel (by reviews) in a town, in general. Even fancier would be The Grand Hotel Kempinsky, but that is by a lake and not in a town (full disclosure, I never went there, but it seemed nice online, haha). If you don't want to stay in a fancy hotel, you can stay in a Penzion. Or, you can stay in a mountain chalet, of which there are a few, up at the top of small roads that lead into the mountains. Those are generally much more isolated, but one we stayed at (Sliesky Dom) was absolutely incredible and not to be missed.
Hope that helps!More
