This place is a nice quiet place where you can see some operating windwills, see some farm equipment, catch a quick bite & beer before continuing to do additional sightseeing. I got there easily by public bus (the bus stop is about 100 yards away), but most people come by car.
Charging only a few Euros, the main building seems to be a recently purpose built museum whilst maintaining an authentic and traditional ambiance. There are various engaging exhibits inside and then outside there are some interesting windmills to explore and old farm machinery to gaze at. If you can catch it between tour groups then you may sense the lovely peaceful atmosphere of this place.
This is quite a nice place, a lot of old tools and machines. Somehow just the setting is not the best possible. Maybe we were here off the season - the rooms inside were not lid, difficult to read the sings. But regardless a place worth visiting, if you don’t mind the 4 euros entrance fee.
Different windmills are interesting but the newly built museum has a lot of old farming equipment and all sorts of old machines to process leather, metal, wood . A big part is actually devoted to dolomite - famous stone in Saaremaa used in decorative art, everyday objects, building etc. Dolomite is also used to build the museum.
Very near to Angla there is old KARJA church. Find where is the statue of St Nicholas (Santa Claus!!) near the altar. There are also floral ornaments, quite unusual in Estonian churches.
Not so much new, but windmills are like trademark of Saaremaa. Very interesting are olde agricultural equipments.
But one special roam are in -1 flour! Go and look Blacksmiths equipments, have never been seen so good collection here in Estonia.
If you arw interested in old windmills, or old farming equipment, tractors or animals (ducks, turkeys, goats, etc), this place is worth a visit.
