Excellent place for a evening stroll. Promenade connects Port of Narva with its famous Ro-Ro pub/club and beach at the other end. Nice views to the Ivangorod at Russian side. There are several pleasant areas where to sit, eat or drink.
Newly constructed promenade along the river on the Estonian side. Skilfully constructed. Gives great views of the fortresses and the river. Many places to sit down to relax and admire the scenery. Watch the fishermen. Easy access from close to the fortress.
This promenade around the Narva Castle wasn’t here five years ago when we last visited. The Estonian side riverbank has been recently and tastefully renovated (with EU support) to enable a walking tour along the water. So it was pleasant experience to be able to walk about 967 m along the river promenade looking opposite at the Russian side. When walking under the bridge we got a fantastic view of Hermann Castle. We were impressed by the sun square, the fountain and the Dahlberg outdoor stage. We walked to the Swedish terrace which is a recreational area for families and had lion shaped attractions. We walked to a building that was used at a prison camp and saw a watch tower on the opposite side of the river. We even saw canoeists keeping to Estonian side on the river. The promenade was nicely done. It was a fascinating and interesting walk into Narva history. We highly recommend this.
Nice walk on the river. Only river garage transformed as a bar was open with two clients. We kept this bar open and running for some hours. Garage owners turned boat garage into a bar. Shabby decorations. Best seen in the dark. During daylight one would not dare enter in a garage-turned-bar.
Nice views to the river and to the both cities, parks along, some playgrounds and outdoor equipment.
Narva has very little to offer to conventional tourists, but she has lots for people willing to discover the border atmosphere that boils in. Russian is spoken everywhere, buses go back and forth through the border control, and local families take a walk along the river. This walkway has been tastefully decorated with some works of art and I can imagine that in a few years time, cafés and souvenir shops will bloom all along the river banks. Very pleasant stroll when the weather allows it...
