This is definitely off-center but it was a nice find with a great outdoor seating area in a quiet neighbourhood, full of locals and exempt from tourists.
The service was professional. They even had a sommelier to recommend us a great pairing with what we were ordering.
For staters, we shared:
- Octopus: it wasn’t consisting of large octopus tentacules, like we had expected. Instead, it was small pieces, some already cut. More of a calamari-like dish than octopus. Plus, the pieces were not grilled / charred… only boiled. So the crunchiness and charred taste were missing, sadly.
- Burrata: was almost perfect, being hard-ish on the outside and creamy on the inside… just being a bit too cold still. Had it been a few degrees warmer, it would have been perfect.
For main course, we shared the crab risotto. It was a good-sized portion and generous in vegetables. I can’t say I remember seeing a lot of crab meat in there… but the overall dish was well-balanced and tasty.
Wine list is exhaustive… but as it is the case everywhere in Riga, prices are expensive for what you order.
Great neighbourhood restaurant.
