This was such an interesting place to visit. It's such a large park, and you can just walk the woods for hours if you wanted. The buildings were great and the weather was perfect. I would recommend going if you love nature and history!

It covers an extensive area of natural parkland, with recreated old buildings from several historical districts of Latvia a highlight.Lunch at the museum restaurant was good with welcoming staff.Highly recommended.

I like to discover new countries. Usually I'm riding a sity tour by myself, but of course one of the best way - to visit the open air museum. There is such opportunity to know the history and culture of real Latvia. Strongly recomended!!!

A really well laid -out 'village'. Lots to see and good information boards on the buildings. There is a café/barbeque in the middle of the area which is not signposted nor on the map. It should be ! You can go into most buildings too.

There are other similar museums we have visited in locations ranging from Canada to Siberia. This one is relatively small (and very do-able in consequence) housing buildings from all over Latvia. There are demonstrators in costume at several of the properties who all gave excellent descriptions in English of what they were doing.
Part of the park is next to a lake which is now a wildlife reserve.
A very pleasant place to spend an afternoon.
