“Funny little bar, soviet style”

A funny bar with all kinds of soviet style relics and Lenin's heads and pics on the wall. Very cheap, good collection of beer. They played really loud punk music, which I found to be a little off the theme, but then again can imagine Soviet marching songs and kalinka might not be very pleasant to listen to either...service was ok, the guy didn't speak English very well but we got along just fine.

The staff are obnoxious and rude! Ths music choice is awful and doesn't suit the Soviet theme at all.

A bar which is an homage to the Soviet era. Oddly it felt quite authentic without being tongue in cheek or kitschy.

The thing to really rave about are the prices. Food and drink is very cheap! Even by Riga standards. And not bad quality either.

We visited after going to the KGB museum which is fairly nearby and the irony wasn't lost on us! Pretty quiet on a Saturday afternoon but a great place for a couple of beers and a snack (we had their €10 sharing platter and a strange biscuit at €1 a throw which seemed to be strangely reminiscent of a "snickers" bar!). Bigger than you might think and lots of soviet era stuff including radios, pictures of Mr Lenin and some pretty dreadful coloured fake leather sofas. For something a bit different just outside the old town worth a visit.
