It must have been nice as conceived, but when I saw it it was just a mass of twisted pipes, the fountains did not work and just a little stale water was left at the bottom of the pool. Definitely not something to go out of the way for.

The "statue" of famous professor Lotman that is situated infront of the Tartu University library. It is ok looking as a fountain and offers a good sitting place for studying and book reading, but as a statue it looks like a pile of bent pipes. It really takes some fantasy to recognize the features of Lotmans face in that. So in conclusion a nice pool of water to sit next to on a sunny day but not much to look at.

Having read Lotman's pioneering "Semiotics of Cinema" (1976), I was delighted to find his self-caricature in 3D spouting out water in this fountain feature near Tartu University Library. You can also sit on one of the two memorial Lotman benches by the old cathedral on Tomemägi hill. Great scholar, good memorials.

An interesting fountain when it is actually working but could use some explanation and could add a splash of color like the fountains in Paris

Accidentally stumbled across this sculpture when there was a cycling event happening in town, beautiful steel-pipe sculpture dedicated to Yuri Lotman, whom was a professor of the University of Tartu and one of the greatest scientists from Estonia.
