I travelled to Estonia with four friends. We had booked a four bed appartment at hotel kelluka and requested an extra bed. we paid for this through booking.com and the cost 168 euros was taken from our account. we were not charged for the extra bed so we had rung up and explained we needed an extra bed and were told it would be 51 euros for that bed. we were happy with that and agreed to pay the rest when we got there.
when we arrived we went to check in and were told that the reservation we had was cancelled as we paid by debit card and not by credit card. even though th emoney had been taken from our account. the owner Andreas said that he was within his rights to cancel the booking by simply putting a red line through our payment reciept. he said that we would need to pay another 120 euros to rebook as the price had now changed from the original one we booked at it. again i stress the money ahd already been taken from our account but because he cancelled it it was now non-refundable.
out of male pride and principle more than anything we were not willing to pay the extra 120 euros he asked for. we did offer him the 51 euros he had agreed we would need to pay but he wouldnt have it. in the end he said he ould accept the 51 euros for the extra bed but he wanted 50 euros deposit on the keys. we asked 5 different people who were staying at the hotel if they paid deposits on th ekeys and they said no. we had a feeling we wouldnt get the deposit back so we offered our passports as a deposit but we were told that he couldnt accept passports as it was against the law. then he said he had to go and said he would speak with his lawyer to see if we could use th epassports as deposit. 6 hours later we had struggled to find alternative accomodation so rang him back and said we would pay what he was asking for and he said it was too late he had let our room out to someone else and put th ephone down.
he was the worse person i have ever met in my life, an absolute con-man who knows that he has you over a barrel when you are in another country with no where to stay. the annoying thing is that there is another review above that i had seen before we went but i thought lightn9ng couldnt strike twice. i would not recomend anyone stay here and would also like to say what little we had seen of the hotel it seemed scruffy anyway and was in the middle of no where. they were no pubs, shops or anything within walking distance.
we are trying hard to get our 168 euros we initially paid back from this man as he cancelled the booking not us but when we call he seems tohave lost the ability to speak or understand english. HE IS A CRIMINAL and in england his business would be shut down by now.
