Oysters are best to eat in the winter or in the early spring – it’s an axiom. Finally, I have a strong reason to visit Finlandia Caviar Tallinn café at last.
Interior. This small restaurant- shop is located on Väike-Karja street. Whether guests accidentally will glance or will go on purpose, but they will remain here for sure. Mini-wardrobe, open shop shelves that blow really cold air, the sterile-white atmosphere – the first impression.
The chill meeting has melted quickly after friendly service of the waiter. No, he is not the waiter – it is an expert who you can listen for hours. About oysters, about caviar, about the same cafe in Helsinki, about preferences of guests – pity time flies.
Food. I remove the menu hanging on a wall and firstly choose three species of oysters, then – all-sorts from five types of caviar.
Fin de Claire – oysters have moderate taste, almost imperceptible. Oysters imperial – fleshier, dense, crackling and even sweet. Let’s raise the level – Gillardeau. They became the tastiest of them all: more dense body, more sweet, more tangible and fragrant. It is difficult to describe – I advise to try!
The set is accompanied by so-called French sauce: chopped shallot in red vinegar. Surprisingly, but combination of oysters with such sauce was very pleasant. With lemon – traditional. With jam from petals of roses – unexpected, but its perfumed aroma distracted me. Also bread and butter were offered by default. I had no time for bread and whether it’s necessary at all to such delicacies?
The next delicacy – caviar in the crispy cups with sour cream and quail egg. I think it’s an excellent idea to offer several types at once. It will help you upon caviar purchase and develop your taste as well.

Vendace – sweet, a little expressed taste.
Whitefish – smoked, taste of sun-dried fish.
Lumpfish – more salty, friable with a thin cover, taste of dark grapes.
Salmon – taste salty and acetum, a dense cover.
Smoked salmon – bright taste and a smell of smoked products, dense jelly pulp, the favorite from all!
Sum. It’s hard to set an average bill, because everything depends on your appetite, mood and money. Who can and want, suggest trying oysters or caviar with wine, champagne or vodka. My choice besides a sea delicacy were the Rose lemonade, ide of purchasing later cup of smoked salmon caviar, merry mood and remarkable memories!
