My general direction and timing for that day would bring me in the Popgrad area, and I fond “Fortuna” via the internet. It looked just right for me.
The place did not Disappoint.
Reservation by phone, about 1 hr before arrival, was done mostly in German. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Parking is right in front, on the quiet village square.
The hotel has a “dependency” across the road and that is where I got my room. Wifi was good: I even had the room (at the top of the building) with the router in it.
I had a walk around the old village and because of “museum night”, the local museum was open. Small but interesting. Check the story about the city-walls.
I also had an evening meal in the hotel-restaurant. Because I was not very hungry, I explained I would like to have just two starters, and some beers and enjoy eating it in the covered outdoor seating. The Receptionist/waiter and the cook understood, and made me some excellent dishes, visibly prepared with a lot of attention to detail. I suspect they run a very nice restaurant as well. Strongly Recommended.
Room, Shower, bed: All good. Perfect night sleep.
note: no lifts, beware if you dont like winding staircases.
Breakfast was Good, checkout was smooth.
I can definitely recommend the place.
