It's a superb location, very good service. The staff is a little bit slow, not perfect English, so be patient, use simple words and check the bills: sometimes the staff makes mistakes because of not perfect language skills. The wine list in the lobby is not all the wine they offer. Internet -- extremely expesive and not very reliable.

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking the castle - the view is magnificent and the sleep strong. There are touri...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for filling out a review on Tripadvisor.

I am disappointed you felt our personnel's foreign language skills did not meet your expectations. I can assure you that we are in the process of training all of our restaurant and bar team members to increase their level of spoken and written language skills. In addition to this we are continuously organizing on the job skills trainings for our team members and already receiving many reviews from around the world reflecting our guests' satisfaction.

We are also carrying out some development works in order to introduce free and high speed internet availability in all public areas of the hotel very soon.

Besides, I am pleased you enjoyed your accommodation especially the magnificent view to the city. I hope you get another chance to experience the Hilton Budapest in the near future as I am sure if you do you will stay with Hilton for life.

Yours faithfully,

Zoltan Arvai

We stayed here for a couple of nights and it was very good. We booked having searched via Trivago and got a good deal with breakfast included. When we arrived earlier than check-in time, the room was ready. We opted not to go for the upgrade of river view as we weren't planning to spend a lot of time looking out of the window so had one facing on to the street. This wasn't a problem as there is hardly any traffic outside (it is a World Heritage area) and the rooms are the same size. Good, clean spacious double with king size bed, all the usual amenities and decent sized bathroom. Tea & coffee making and mini-bar. Bottled water provided but cost 1900 Florints a bottle (about £6 sterling) - tap water OK and along the street in the grocery store you could buy the same bottled water for 100 Florints (30 pence sterling).
The hotel staff were very helpful and polite. It has built on what was an old monsatery so has some interesting features. Nice bar and public areas. It was very cold and snowy when we were there but the hotel was very warm which was the only drawback as the air-con in the room wasn't easy to regulate so in fact it was a bit too warm at night.
Really nice breakfast with the dining area overlooking The Danube and Pest. Magnificent views which I guess you would have got if you paid the supplement for the river view rooms. Drinks in the bar quite pricey as you would expect but a nice setting for a pre-dinner drink.
We ate at "21" just down the road one night which was very good and which I would recommend and also at Spiez opposite on the second night which was busy with a good atmosphere but quite pricey. We also had lunch at Pest-Buda which was nice and quite traditional Hungarian. We also had lunch at Gerbeaud in Pest - a famous old Pattiserie place which is well worth a visit. Lovely surroundings & service. The hotel and restaurants add 12-15% service on everything.
Nearby to the hotel, the National Gallery is really good and the Fisherman's Bastion is a spectacular building.
To book a car from the airport to the hotel www.airporttransfersbudapest.com served us well.
We used both the metro and bus service which are efficient and pretty cheap.
I will definitely use this hotel again when I next visit Budapest which is a lovely city with plenty to see & do. Next time though I'll maybe go in the summer.

The Hilton Budapest is next to the great Fisherman's Bastion. If you can have a room with the view of the Danube river, it's great! At night the Bastion is illuminated and the views are outstanding. I had a room with the lounge access, which is terrific. It had a very nice breakfast and good selection of snacks and hot dishes at dinner. I had an early night and very helpful staff organised a room service breakfast for me for no extra cost, which was very nice of them. From the airport you can you an airport shuttle service, which is cheaper than the usual taxi. The bed was convenients, and the room was big. I have had a nice stay.

Location of this Hilton is great because it´s right next to the "Disney-like" Fisherman´s bastion, castle and church. We got free upgrade to a suite so that was nice! Suite was furnished in old style but still nice. Staff was quite friendly and helpful. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

My husband and I have booked a week-long cruise on the Danube River for early October2012. We decided to begin our trip with a 3 day stay in Budapest, primarily because of the fabulous reviews of this hotel. When Uniworld River Cruise company indicated that they would book a reservation at the Budapest Hilton as part of an extended stay package, I took a look at Trip Advisor's site to see if we felt the extra time and price would be justified. After reading not only the lovely reviews, but the responses from hotel management <!!!!> our decision was easy!. Now we will be able to overcome jet-lag from Boston, not have to stress about missed flight connections impacting our ability to arrive at the river vessel on time, AND get our vacation off to a fantastic start. Thank you to all who have taken the time to write their impressions of the Budapest Hilton. We can't wait to share your positive experiences there!
