Went to the Columbus pub with family at sunset and ate on the top deck. The restaurant has a great view of the city (360° views right on the danube river). The food was very good- moist and flavorful and we were even served by the chef and kitchen staff.

Went to the restaurant & pub section, seated next to the window in a cosy room off from the smoker's area. Smoker's area seemed like a punishment for smokers in terms of wooden seats and wooden tabletops whereas non-smokers were rewarded with comfortable seats and clean white tableclothes.

Ordered pork tenderloin strips with fried vegetables and potato wedges. Pork was overcooked and hard. Had a brownie with vanilla ice cream for desert and felt the brownie was suffering from the recession.

The waiter was polite and helpful - to the person I was with as that person spoke Hungarian (the waiter didn't seem to speak English). When I used my basic Hungarian to say thank you etc. etc., he ignored me and in fact never even made eye contact with me, making me feel quite invisible! He spent quite a bit of energy on the other person though... Felt like he had little time for anyone not speaking the language even though the boat is on a tourist strip and the restaurant was empty apart from our table.

All in all, very average service, average food and cold, along with the coffee. I expected too much perhaps but then again, it does have 'pub' in the name so for that, it wasn't all that bad, just not a place I'd recommend. In warmer weather, it'd be more agreeable but I have the feeling there are better boat restaurants out there on the Danube.

This is my "pit-stop" in Budapest. Great place for a beer on the terrace after walking all around town.
I really love the efforts for the interior design, but I still find the food very average. But then it's pub-food, so maybe I'm expecting too much.
