“40th wedding anniversary celebrated in Budapest, wonderful.”

So, you've decided on Budapest and now you're looking for a holiday let, The photographs all look good, the reviews are all good, you decide on the apartment, money is paid over, the day arrives and so do you. This is when you find out the truth of the matter?
Let me tell you that the photographs only tell half the story in this case. This apartment is brilliant; Brilliant location, brilliant view and brilliant owner. Everything was spot on for our week away in Hungary and a big "thank you" to all concerned for their help and advice during our stay.
Location - the apartment is on the fourth floor, served by a small elevator which you enter up a few stairs from the main entrance door. There is a back way into the building and this gives a street level access to the elevator, so no stairs to climb. The building is situated 100 metres from the Elizabeth bridge on the Pest side of Budapest. The front door looks out on the road that runs alongside the Danube river. Here you will find a succession of river cruisers docking overnight whilst their guests enjoy the day in the city.
Just 200 metres back from the building and running parallel with the road, is the Vaci Street, one of the main shopping areas in Pest. At one end is the Grand Market and the other end has the Hard Rock Cafe amongst other major stores. In between there are a plethora of restaurants, bars, cafes, souvenir shops, money exchangers, you name it and it is on this road.
View - the apartment is between the Elizabeth bridge and the Szabadsag bridge. Opposite is Gellert Hill which houses the Citadel and the Liberation Monument. Across to the right is Buda castle and lots of churches in the distance.
Owner - excellent communications, easy booking, taxi waiting at the airport and straight to Daniel who was waiting for us at the apartment. He spent some time with us, gave us the low down on the apartment and Budapest, good advice about restaurants and areas to visit, very friendly and caring.
In summary - we thoroughly enjoyed our 40th wedding anniversary in Budapest and especially this apartment. We were surprised at how little we spent on food and drink during our week there. The Metro and Trams were easy and often, the people were friendly on the whole (although we did find some miserable shop assistants!), the food & drink was a delight and the range of sightseeing attractions was surprisingly large for a small capital city.
Recommendations - Monks Bistrot for a first class restaurant, Margaret Island for a full day out and especially the Budapest Zoo which was our highlight, not just a zoo but an education, expect to spend the day.
Would we go back? We plan to and will be booking this apartment again!

“Excellent location and views, spacious and homey”
Reviewed 8 April 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Pros: Easy booking with Ann, pickup at airport and keys given easy even at midnight arrival. Large, airy apartment with excellent location and fabulous views of Danube river, Elizabeth bridge and Castle hill behind the bridge to the right. Gellert Hill directly across river. Fully stocked kitchen, ref, microwave, stovetop and 4 person dining room set. Clean and spacious bathroom with shower only.

Bedroom has two double beds stuck together that although comfy, would separate at the middle easily with movement. Me, wife and 5 yr old slept here and had to be conscious about this split in middle with the kid. One quibble was it was a bit dusty under this bed setup and wood tiles made for very creaky floors inside this room. Ample storage space and lighting. Good centralized heating and cooling inside whole apartment. Very quiet, hardly heard any neighbors movements at all during our 8 nights stay here. Wifi works very well but TV only carried local Hungarian channels. Sofa bed in the living room was small and not comfy at all with an itchy fabric and was setup wherein the pillows come down to form part of the bed while the bottom wood frame is pulled forward to make it a double sized bed-- pillows come apart when sleeping on it (my 10 yr old was not very comfortable sleeping on this sofa bed). This sofa bed really needs to be changed in my opinion.

Front of building is very dark at night although facing a busy street and overall very safe neighborhood even coming home late with small kids. Two entrances into building front and back, both dark at night. Once inside the main door, light switch is further up the foyer on left so be sure to have your phone flashlight ready to see your way in. One lift up a few steps was very small and slow but worked for this building and our stay. Took it going up and walked back down instead most times.

Excellent neighborhood, convenience store right downstairs around the corner, groceries across the street not far at all, truly centrally located with tram no. 2 right in front of building. Overall, despite the small bed quirks, enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend this place when in Budapest. It is on the Pest side by the way right beside the Elizabeth bridge facing the river and Gellert Hill. Bupapest is a beautiful city and we really enjoyed our visit partly because of this apartment and its location.

“Excellent way to see Budapest”
Reviewed 14 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

The Danube River view is just amazing from this apartment. It is also so convenient, in the centre of the city... All the city highlights within easy walking distance, plus the number 2 tram outside the main door. The apartment is light and airy, modern and has all you need. It feels safe and is quiet above the road with good double glazing. Heating is efficient (needed in the Budapest winter). It has 2 single beds which are very comfortable. We spent a week and were not disappointed. Arrangements for airport pick-up and return were very convenient and reassuring. The owner is Irish and is extremely helpful.

Perfect situation, lovely apartment, spectacular view, excellent welcome, good info pack when you book and easy transfer to/from airport. You won't do better.

(avoid the costly and very infrequent WIZZ airport transfer, public transport is dead cheap, dead easy and very frequent)
