The Royal Park Hotel is excellently positioned being a short walk from the main station. Unfortunately for us the trains from Prague go to a station 3 miles away to the west of the city. The hotel is good, no qualms. Our room had a panoramic window (with blind) into the bathroom - quirky. Easy access around the city. Something that is not widely broadcast is that in Hungary over 65s travel free on the buses, trolleys, trams and trains and that is extended to those with EU docs such as passports, ID cards & driving licences. The breakfast room is small for the size of hotel so can be manic. No bacon!! What is useful is that if you are travelling well beyond the 11.00hrs check out time they are happy to store your baggage whilst you kill time until you need to go to the airport or catch a train.

Room Tip: They offer an upgrade for 18euros a night which is supposedly a better room, with tea/coffee facilities and you get a bottle of wine.

I couldn’t fault this hotel, we stayed here for 3 nights, rooms were lovely, spacious, we were given a phone to use during our stay which was very handy for google maps and making calls.
Only thing was it was two single beds joined instead of one double. But other than that the reception staff were very friendly and helpful and gave us plenty advice on where to go and eat.
Location is good too, only 15 minute walk to city center also. Had a lovely stay. Thank you

Ignore the dodgy location down a side street over the road from Keleti pu railway station; this hotel is a gem. Nice rooms, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful multi-lingual staff, good little bar in the lobby, great breakfast. Was initially sceptical but was soon won over. If I ever return to Budapest I'll be staying here.

We did upgrade our room and had a bottle of fizz and the Nespresso refilled everyday.
The breakfast had a lot of salad which we found strange being used to continental breakfast. The usual cheese cold meats cereals and bread and jam, the hot varied semolina one day, boiled egg, scrambles egg frankfurters eggie bread.

It was good to have a room safe free of charge and i would advise everyone to use it that is all i will say about that.

I have read the reviews about the beds and it is personal however we found them to be extremely hard. Our room overlooked the rear with 2 high walls and hotel windows on the other 2 walls.if you wanted to know what the weather was doing you
had to look upward.

The hotel is near one of the train stations and the new metro, it is out of town and in a run down area although we never felt threatened at all. You do need to be able to walk at least thirty minutes to get anywhere. I agree maybe eat while you are out.

Room Tip: Maybe a room overlooking the front

This is a decent hotel close to one of the many railway stations in Budapest. The reception area is clean and bright. The staff are very helpful and friendly. On arrival you're given a pack containing information on a range of tourist attractions.
The rooms are clean and in good decorative order and are complimented by a (free) safe and a mini bar that you have to pay for. If you don't want to pay hotel prices for mini bar food/drink there is a Spar shop close by. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the standard rooms however, you can buy tea or coffee at the bar and take it upto your room. The ensuite shower room is compact and could do with a bit of a makeover. The beds are comfy.
There is also free complimentary WiFi throughout the hotel.
Breakfast is basic and the breakfast room isn't very big do it can get a bit busy.
Evening meals aren't served at the hotel and unless you like KFC, McDonald's or BurgerKing the choice is very limited choices for places to eat close to the hotel. My advise would be to either eat prior to returning to the hotel or seeking recommendations on places to eat from the hotel staff.
