The Danube Guest House couldn't be better positioned. It's within easy walking distance of many important sites and affords easy access to public transport that enables visitors to reach all the rest. A wide range of restaurants and night spots are minutes from the front door. The host, a long term resident American, will happily provide a wealth of useful suggestions should you require. Guest rooms are spacious and spotless. A local cafe / restaurant - five minutes away - provides breakfast. Prices / value relationship is very favorable. I spent five nights and would definitely return.

Had a wonderful week staying here with my lovely friend. What friendly, welcoming, hospitable and helpful hosts. They gave us lots of tips on places to eat, visit, etc. and booked tickets for us to thermal baths. The accommodation was stylish, clean and very comfortable. Plenty of space for hanging and storing clothes. Guide books available. Location is great, right in the Jewish district, which is full of interesting and artistic shops, 'ruin' bars, the large synagogue, great cafes and restaurants. We loved going round the corner to a very attractive café for yummy breakfasts, which are included in accommodation price, all very good value. Really hope to come to Budapest again, and will definitely be booking in here again.
Like in any city, if your room is above the street, you will sleep better with ear plugs, which we had with us. Also, proper wax ear plugs (apparently hard to get in UK) are easily available in Budapest pharmacies.

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely and stylish. I guess the ones over the courtyard would be quieter, but I am now a seasoned earplug user and would be happy to stay again in any of the rooms.

Thank you for the wonderful review. I would just like to say that with the newly installed roll up shutters, well insulated windows and heavy drapes, there would have been no issue with noise if you had not chosen to sleep with them all open :)

The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in was spacious and very clean. It looks much better than in the pictures! The breakfast was very nice. The location is great for seeing the city. There is no better quality and location for this price...

Room Tip: All the rooms look great

We stayed for 2 nights for a short weekend break to explore Budapest and the guest house was perfect for our needs and budget. Our hosts were extremely helpful and sweet. The rooms were spotlessly clean and well equpped, even with books and recent magazines, hairdryer, drinking water- and it was lovely and warm, which was great after walking around the city in December. The breakfast deal was good - a short walk to the cafe on the corner and then you were offered a simple choice of a cooked or pastry / muesli based breakfast- the quality and volume of food was just right. The location of the guest house is perfect as the Jewish quarter is all around you and here you'll find lovely restaurants, bars, and the metro. A comfortable well-priced base for travellers who will be out and about a lot during their stay.

We stayed here for two nights in December after a semester abroad before going back home. As female students, we wanted to stay someplace safe and clean with reasonable pricing. We were so impressed with Guest House Danube. The owners were so incredibly kind and helpful - they had tickets to attractions and wonderful advice where to eat. The free breakfast at the cafe around the block is wonderful also... I was not expecting more than a pastry and had a full breakfast! The cleanliness of the rooms is impeccable also - very clean, nice, and secure feeling. At first we were concerned about location since the Metro Line Astoria doesn't take you to most tourist attractions but it wasn't a big deal at all. Most destinations are walkable or you can reach them from the next metro which I just a 6 or 7 minute walk away. We felt VERY safe the entire time and went out without needing to hail a cab. Budapest was wonderful and this hotel was a GREAT addition to our time there. HIGHLY recommend!
