“A sad sight ”

Shoes on the Danube Bank

The history surrounding the shoes on the Danube is a sad story of history but a fitting tribute to those who lost their lives ...there are tributes left nearby which makes it look a bit messy but overall a must do visit en route to all of the other amazing monuments in Budapest

Just seeing these shoes lined up on the pavement where it is said the Germans lined up Jews and killed them dumping the bodies into the Danube is a sombre moment.

This memorial is great to see, whatever your age is.
It takes no time (or just the time to take some pictures) so make sure to plan something else for after!

The. Nazi cruelty thatkilled so many Hungarian Jews. These shoes are a haunting homage to the old and young killed in the WWII. Directly, in front of the Parliament building as you walk alongside the river in front of the imposing statues.

I found this memorial extremely sad and u could imagine what people went through. I had said it was somewhere I definitely wanted to visit whilst I was there and I am glad that we managed to find it.
