Staff – The staffs are very nice and efficient ! However, there is a flaw, when we were checking-out, the porter went to get our car from their private parking. The porter waited for us for a while as one of us was in the toilet. Then after all of us were at the lobby, the porter was gone. We ask other porters and the reception about our car key but nobody had a clue. Then after 15 minutes and porter was back, he went to get another car. This is a shame in the system of tips, the porter is living on tips so he controls every guests car key, and this makes the guests to wait, which is outrageous, so we of course didn’t give him any tip, which we really wanted to do but end up with leaving angrily, those valuable time wasted will never be back.

Facilities – Old hotel, out of maintainance. Scary design, no feeling of luxury.

The shower head holder was broken so there is no shower to be enjoyed. Such a hotel in the center of the capital city of a country can’t have all the necessary facilities be fixed ?

Cleanliness – Again, old, so can’t feel very clean.

Comfort – Old and small, no comfort is guaranteed.

Value for Money – 94 Euro for single room of this tiny size? Just outrageous. You measure how much it should cost.

Location – In the very center. It is confusing for drivers as the main entrance is on a street almost only have pedestrians and buses. Hotel didn’t explain clearly enough that it was legal to drive our car on this almost pedestrians only street.

We were naturally extremely sorry to read your feedback and to know that you left the hotel with such disappointment. We were of course further saddened to know that your impression of the hotel facilities and cleanliness led to your final score despite scoring us as excellent with regards to our service and location.

We are really sorry about your valet service experience with one of our porters. We have spoken with the porter involved and he admitted that in between your car order he received another request, and as a new employee with less experience, he unfortunately got confused and forgot about your request. Please accept our sincere apology for this inconvenience.

In regards to your comments about the old rooms and feeling about the cleanliness we are very sorry that we have not fulfilled your expectations. In the last two year we have done a lot in regards to renovation, from our new exterior view, new restaurant, totally renovated reception area with trendy lounge bar. In regards to the rooms we have totally renovated our Superior Deluxe rooms which offer ultimate comfort, but also we have not neglected our standard rooms where attention to details can be seen everywhere from our high-quality bed linens, pillow menu, kettle for coffee and tea, large 49 inches flat TVs, complimentary water on arrival, umbrella, ear plugs and many more details in each of 170 rooms. Our housekeeping and maintenance staff really tries to keep the rooms on a high level, which can be seen by positive experiences and recommendations from other guests on Tripadvisor.

We think that also your expectations in regards to the room size may have added to your disappointment as reading your review distribution in previous accommodations, your preference are smaller boutique hotels and luxury apartments where usually rooms are bigger than in larger city hotels. For more demanding guests we always recommend to book at least our Deluxe rooms which offer more space and comfort.

In regards to the hotel access, we are situated at an elite location right in the heart of the city centre and we are the only upscale hotel in Ljubljana that is located in the pedestrian zone, but guests who have booked a room at the hotel can drive right to the hotel door. There is also a sign in Slovenian language at the border of the pedestrian area stating that hotel guests are allowed to drive up to the hotel. The hotel offers valet parking only, and after unloading your luggage, our staff will park your car in a safe garage nearby.

Driving to the front of the hotel and stopping there for up to 15 minutes is allowed for:
- Hotel guests with a confirmed room reservation arriving with their own cars, rentals
- Hotels' own airport shuttle
- Other drivers dropping off or picking up hotel guests (business partners etc.)
- Buses carrying guests who are staying at the hotel

Once again, our sincere apologies for your disappointment and we hope that your next visit to Ljubljana finds a more satisfying experience.

Being on the main shopping "strip" and only 5 minutes' walk from the night life along the river, this hotel is ideally situated for a city break. However, the traffic restrictions for the periodically pedestrianised road make it inconvenient if you have a hire car. We had to park by a meter some roads away and walked to the hotel. To their credit, a valet was then despatched to collect our luggage and our car was put in a mysterious "secure car park" for €18 a day, which is not optimising our car rental fee! You do not need a car for Ljubljana but we are later heading up to the north-west mountains. The valet was then sent later to get the sunglasses that got left behind....

Our room was newly refurbished with new tiling in the bathroom and was clean throughout. It was slightly disappointing to note that the tv remote control was missing, the electric clock radio did not work and the sink plug needed adjusting. These were quickly remedied, but should have been noted during room set up ready for guest arrival. The supply of teabags in the room is a bit random - we currently have three green teabags and nothing else. There is a Spar just round the corner....

Noting comments about noise, I have to say our room is deathly quiet, both from inside the hotel and outside, although we do overlook a service area and not the road.

The room has a free safe, minibar fridge (not free to drink, of course!), glasses, mugs and kettle. It is an adequate size. The hotel staff have all been very pleasant and friendly.

Your opinion is very valuable for us.

Location of our hotel is very central, and for all of our guest it is allowed to enter the street and bring their personal car in front of Hotel. Our porters will be more than glad to assist you any time with your car and luggage. Our Garage is 2 blocks away from our hotel and it is secured, so price is very comparable to other garages in city centre.

Regarding the remote control, we are sorry that it was missing in your room; we always replace it in case if it is missing and also regarding the clock and sink plug we will take appropriate action about that. Tea bags are also acceptable any time you want and chambermaids are willing to offer you different types of tea (just a suggestion for your next stay)

Thank you very much for giving a positive feedback to our staff we are always glad to read how much you enjoy in friendliness of our staff.

This is a lovely, well-located hotel. The rooms are light, clean and comfortable. I was grateful to get a room in Ljubljana at the last minute because, per trip advisor's search engine, they appeared to be in short supply. We were delighted at the quality of the hotel and our room. The staff was friendly and helpful also. Ljubljana is a beautiful city and our stay at this hotel enhanced our visit. I'd love to come back and spend more time at the Hotel Slon. Thank you!

My wife and I visited the Hotel Slon, in Ljubljana from 22nd to 27th June 2017. It is a very comfortable, centrally located hotel close to the main sites. The food was excellent, our room was very comfortable. In fact everything about the hotel was great, BUT, the housekeeping team on the 4th floor were very poor and let the hotel down. They were careless in cleaning, (sink surfaces were not cleaned), towels or flannels, toilet rolls and tissues were not replaced. The two women team did not seem to care about their quality of work, which was a shame because everything else about the hotel was great. My wife and I hope the manager of this specific cleaning team monitors their work to ensure an improvement.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Slon. The location is superb, right in the centre of the city, a two minute walk to the riverside and all the lovely shops, bars and restaurants. Every member of the team was very pleasant, friendly and very helpful. The lobby and bar areas are very newly renovated in a contemporary and chic style. Plenty of room in the bar, we always got a table and we were travelling with a large-ish group, and speedy service from the excellent team. We ate in the restaurant which was very smartly decorated, funky and cool with very comfortable chairs. Very good food and excellent service. Our room was huge - we chose a deluxe room and it was very well equipped, huge brand new TV, superb huge superking bed with very good pillows and mattress. The only thing stopping me from giving a full 5 stars was the variable shower temperature - this was experienced by most of our group and it was very difficult to get a consistent temperature, but the bathroom did have lovely L'Occitaine shampoos etc. But wifi was super fast and never dropped out which was great.
However, all in all a great stay and we will come back. TIP: Call them and ask them to send a car to collect you at the airport -it's half the cost of the airport cabs, just €28 as opposed to the €60 we paid.

Room tip: get a deluxe room away from the main street if you like a quiet room.

We are very thankful for your compliments about our team and service level for which we strive for.

We also agree about the superb location, we are very lucky to be situated in the heart of city centre with all attractions and sights within walking distance and just a few steps from the old historical part of the city. It's even more convenient for the upcoming summer days, when all the festivals and events will be just around the corner.

We are very glad to read that you enjoyed the food and ambience in our Restaurant Slon 1552, which was in 2017 again awarded with the Quality Sign by the Ljubljana Tourist Board as one of the best places to eat in the city. The restaurant and the whole ground floor with the lobby bar and reception desk, where totally renovated last year and now offer modern design and comfortable ambience.

Thank you also for the water temperature comment, which we will forward to our maintenance team who will act accordingly to solve any issues.

We hope we will have the pleasure to welcome you back next time you visit our capital.
