A beautiful wooden Polish mountain house, handmade in the traditional style, in the 'Pieniny National Park', which is undiscovered by many western tourists. The house is perched above a lake next to two castles (both of which can be visited) - with AMAZING views of different national parks from every bedroom. It is very close to three national parks: Pieniny, Tatra and Gorce. The garden directly borders the Pieniny National Park 'Green Rocks' Reserve. The Pieniny National Park is an undiscovered gem - perhaps the most beautiful national park in Poland, visited primarily by Polish people and far enough away from the tourist crowds in Zakopane to give you an authentic and undisturbed experience of the Polish mountains and the culture there. The house is detached and has a floor area of more than 200m2 and a large private, and securely fenced, garden for your sole use, with a fresh-vegetable patch, large balcony outside the front room and a fire pit - great for keeping you warm while star gazing. It is a superb base for walking, climbing, sailing, writing, birdwatching, retreat and family holidays - and a great place just to relax. The closest airports are Krakow (Poland) or Proprad (Slovakia). You can also fly to Katowice (Poland) or Kosice (Slovakia). The house is on three levels with stairs between each level. The kitchen, dining room, garage and bathroom are on the ground floor. The living room and one bedroom are on the first floor. The two other bedrooms are on the top floor. There are three bedrooms in total: one has a double bed, one has a double bed and a double sofa bed and the third has two single beds. All the rooms have great views and one has a small balcony which is nice for having a long, slow coffee while you watch the morning mist clearing over the lake and castle. Anywhere between one and six people (adults and kids) can stay at the house very comfortably - although there are also double sofa beds in the front room and kitchen if you have extra people (the house can sleep up to 10 if have two people sleeping on each of the sofa beds too). Some comments from previous visitors include: 'Well that was a wonderful stay in your house - marvellous! Really beautiful house, garden, fruit, walks, mountains everything really! Another thing, is we were really quite taken with the area, it's proximity to the lake and the mountains - as we love swimming in summer and sliding in winter - we saw a couple of plots for sale and were just wondering about prices etc...' 'We had an absolutely fantastic holiday! Thank you so much! What a beautiful country. Had lots of days out and evenings in - great.' 'Just to pass on the families thoughts of the trip - They loved it !!! They raved about the house/area and we will all get out there together another time.' 'We had a really nice time at the house. It was absolutely perfect, beautiful house, lovely surroundings and we had perfect weather. Once again thanks for the lovely time and if you'll allow us we'll love to stay another time!' There is a large balcony area outside next to the front room, which is great for barbeques. And a super garden, with a swing (suitable for kids and for slightly drunk adults). We also keep some garden games in the garage, which you are welcome to use. The garden is also great for star-gazing at night: we saw lots of shooting star last summer. There's a vegetable patch and lots of fruit trees, which you can help yourself to if you see that something is ready to eat. The is a small kitchen and a large dining area, with a large wooden table and benchs. The kitchen/dining area has a traditional Polish wood-burning cooking stove, a new electric oven (that has rings and an oven section), cupboards, a large fridge (with a small freezer compartment) and a large table for preparing food. The house is decked out in nice mountain-style furnishings. There is one main bathroom (with a bath and shower) downstairs, which has been recently refurbished to a very high standard, and a second toilet upstairs next to the main bedrooms. We provide all the bedding for your stay and towels. However, it is worth noting that we only get these cleaned after you have left - so you will need to be OK about using the same towels and bedding for the length of your stay and/or washing your own bedding and towels if you want them freshened up. There is a washing machine in the gararge, which you are welcome to use - we leave special 'eco-balls' near the machine, so there is no need to get washing powder. The sewege goes to a septic pit in the garden and then into the ground - so we are careful about what we put down the toilet/sink (ie we try to keep it as eco as possible). Board games and playing cards are kept in one of the cupboards in the front room. There is also a TV, DVD player and a small selection of DVD films in English and Polish. Most UK mobile phones work in the house and area. Full broadband internet access and wifi is available for free in the house. The broadband wifi can be used by multiple teenagers at the same time! There are child safety gates and a cot available (please tell us in advance if you need this). Overall the house is very child friendly/safe - although we always watch our toddler if he gets near the stairs or stove! Recommended reading/viewing to get you in the mood for a holiday at our house: Rose Petal Jam - Recipe and Stories from a Summer in Poland, by Beata Zatorska and Simon Target The Polish Officer and The Spies of Warsaw, by Alan Furst Janosik, The True Story, a Film (on DVD) by Agnieszka Holland. Lots of scenes in the local areas and in the local castles. The house is one of a row of houses in a quiet area in a village called Falsztyn, which is at the edge of the Pieniny National Park. The village has a small store, which is open from 7am to 9pm most days (except Sundays, when it opens nearer 11am). It sells all the basics, such as cheese, eggs, beer, bread and milk etc - although fresh bread is only delivered on week days. From the house it is possible to take a pleasant walk (about 20 minutes) down to the lake, where you can sun-bathe, picnic and hire a pedaloe. Alternatively, you can walk up into the hills and, after about 1.5 hours walking, reach the 1000m-high peak at Zar, which is surrouned by beautiful mountain pastures where you can take in the views of the much more precipitous Tatra National Park. Note: people with disabilties will need to consider whether they are OK to use the stairs between each floor of the house. The stairs do not have handrails, although we have stair gates if you are coming with toddlers.

ENTORNO INMEJORABLE

Rekommenderas.

Spacious and well equipped house in beautiful location
Lovely traditional wooden mountain style house is located very close to lake Czorsztyn with fantastic views of the lake from the first floor. It had more than enough space for the 5 of us, including a good sized garden. The unexpected bonus for us on arrival was the huge array of toys in the garage at our disposal, including bicycles, table tennis, airgun and archery, amongst other items. Location was lovely and quiet, less than an hour from Zakopane and considerably less expensive. The village of Falsztyn where the house is located has a shop within easy walking distance from the house, and it is on a bus route. However I would strongly recommend a car. I would definitely recommend this for a family or small group looking for a quiet escape in a beautiful location at a very reasonable price.

Sublime property full of character and charm in a location which is second to none.
I happend to come across this property purely by chance when I was looking for somewhere to take a vacation that was different from the normal 'package holiday' experience. I had never rented a holiday property before and initially felt a bit cautious, but with the tripadvisor safety assurances and the excellent communications with the owner before, during and after the rental, this will now be my method of choice. Where do I start with this review? Do I discuss the wonderous charm and artistic beauty which this property has in abundance? The pictures only hint at the full glory of this house. When my partner and arrived we were taken aback by the level of detail carved into every corner of the house. There are elaborate carvings inscribed into the beams, landscape sculptures moulded into the walls of the dining room, and strategically placed art instalations and pictures adorning the rooms. Then there is the location; the village is surrounded by luscious woodlands and meadows, undulating hills and precipitous mountains, all of this combined with sitting of a vast lake which has two medieval castle facing off against each other. The house itself has a beautiful garden which is excellent for some al fresco dining whilst listening to the pitch perfect chorus of the many, many birdlife which sings with a beautiful melodic cadence whilst you enjoy the local produce. The facilities include the use of a wonderful log burner in the main lounge which provides an excellent method for taking the edge of the spring nights making the room feel cozy and like you are in a home away from home. The waves of heat pulse over you as the gentle cracking sounds of the fire rumble in the background. The first night we lit a fire, I must admit we didnt even turn the tv for ages as my partner and I just basked in the warmth and were taken in hypnotically by the frenzied dancing of the flames around the fireplace, just enjoying the moment. The house is very large by UK standards and the three bedrooms can easily swallow up a family. It would allow the party to have enough space to get lost in their own thoughs, but have enough common areas in the main lounge or dining areas to congregate for family meal times or some quality time [perhaps playing board games or watching a movie]. One of the main points I must mention which is of particular note is the level of detail and assistance the owners offer to potential holiday makers. This is a real boon and does the owners such credit that even before you have touched down in the country you have a really good picture of what to expect, and also how to make the most of your time both at the property and in the surrounding area. Whether this is the excellent directions or guidelines on the house facilities, to where to do the best day hike and local cuisine. If this was on a commercial holiday package you would rate the customer service as A+ and really could not be rated more highly. The most difficult thing about the whole experience was getting my English tongue around the pronunciation of the language. And this is probably my top tip for anyone from the UK visiting this wonderful place. It is a little off-piste and away from the normal tourist venues, and as such there will be very little English spoken or understood in the immediate area. However the locals are very friendly and seem to really appreciate the attempt at communication with some stilted Polish words/phrases. A 'Dobry' offered whilst out hiking will be greeted with smiles, and a 'Do widzenia' (d-oh veedzenia ) - good bye offered after making a purchase in a local shop seem to really be appreicated. So be prepared to go slightly outside of your comfort zone and do attempt a few words. Overall my girlfriend and I had a magical time visiting Poland and staying at this amazing house. I cannot recommend this house more highly, and I will definately be returning to enjoy the beautiful Polish countryside again in the future. If you are looking for something special and away from the heaving masses with epic views and buckets of charm, then you this is the place for you.

Great break for all the family
We had a great 6 days in the house, Mark and his wife were very kind and helpful, very thoughtful to provide basics upon arrival, bread butter, etc. The house is ideal situated for Slovakian/Polish Tatra mountains . Lots of space for all of us , 2 partners and 3 grown up children. Lots of chilling out on the veranda with a good book . beer and views. All in all a great holiday home in a great location. We had some great walks locally and further afield on the Slovakian side. Great water rafting , mountain biking nearby and the numerous local restaurant where extremely cheap compared to UK. 10 out 10 many thanks

Peaceful mountain home
Simple, quiet home in mountains, beautiful area, plenty of places to visit off the beaten track, a car is essential, we enjoyed plenty of good food and all at reasonable prices. Stay away from main tourist areas to experience the best of this part of Poland.

About the neighbourhood
Have an experience of the real Polish mountains - in the Pieniny and Gorce national parks. These areas are known mostly only to Polish people and are quieter and in many ways more beautiful than the more commercial Tatra national park and Zakopane area. About 10 minutes drive away is the small town of Niedzica Zamek. Here there is a sailing port (you can hire canoes, pedaloes and sailing boats here - although you need a sailing captains certificate/card to be able to hire a sailing boat). There are also bars and restuarants as well as a stunning castle, which is well worth visit. There's bank and cash point in the village of Niedzica, which is next door (1.5km away) to Niedzica Zamek. Just past Niedzica you can access the Pieniny National Park proper, and take the beautiful 3 hour walk up to the Three Crowns (Trzy Korony) peak - where, on a clear day, the 360 degree view is beyond belief. There is also pleasant and relaxing mountain-rafting trips through the Pieniny, which is suitable for young children - and is guided by mountain men in traditional costume.
