La Veranda in Old Town Prague is a little gem tucked away just two blocks from the main luxury shopping avenue. The place has been around for a while, the owner / chef started out in 2003 with fancy fushion just to find out that Prague was not quite ready. However, for the last 10+ years Italian / French with a contemporary twist has been a recipy for success.
We had dinner there last week and were really impressed by the food and service, Starting out with a squid snack, ceviche with apple and coriander, fried fresh fois gras was a real kicker.
We enjoyed the most perfectly spiced tuna tartar wrapped in ultra thin radish slices. Then we shared a spicy Thai soup with giant prawns followed by a tender filet of veal with wild mushrooms. For dessert we had raspberry soup / cheese cake. We chose a Pinot Noir from Morovia which was very good value. With the dessert we had a Czeck sweet wine.
The atmosphere was elegant and relaxed, with a combination of locals and travellers. Service was provided by a young gentleman who was very knowledgeable both about the food and the wine.
A must for Prague Dining!
