“Valentine break”
Reviewed 24 February 2012

My wife and I thought the hotel was really good, and offered very good value.Position was excellent. Has read of street noise, but we had no problem(perhaps the stags aren't around in February !) Thought the breakfast was excellent, with a good buffet and also a nice selection of hot food. The room was really nice and spacious. Endless hot water in the bathroom. Would recommend the mercedes S class pick up from the airport; got our break off to a great start. Have lost count of number of city breaks we have taken, but this was one of the good ones ! Clear blue skys on valentines day, snow-covered roofs, and snow floating down in the evening as we walked back to the hotel across the floodlit old town square. What more could you want ? Thoroughly recommended !

We stayed here for 2 nights in February and all in all i will say we were quite disappointed after reading such good reviews and seeing the awards it had collected in the past.
When we first arrived at the hotel the check in was friendly and fast, we were offered a welcome drink and checked in by the lady at reception who spoke very good English. She gave us a map and marked on it some of the main sites. she explained where to find things such as good Bars and cash machines.
First impressions of the hotel were good, the reception area and the restaurant area were clean and well presented. We were given a room on the top floor. When we arrived in our room our first impressions were that it was very pleasant but slightly small. After the first night we started to notice lots of little faults. There were an awful lot of scuffs on the walls which could easily be covered with a lick of paint. There was Limescale running down the side of the bath which had not been cleaned. We had air conditioning in the room but this did not work. It was -5 outside at night but we had to sleep with the covers off and the tiny window left wide open, This still did not make the room any cooler.
The bed was nice and comfy and the coffee machine was a lovely addition to the room. We also loved the L'Occitane toiletries.
The breakfast was again disappointing, on our first morning we arrived at the breakfast room and were not spoken to or shown to a table by any of the staff members. we then sat ourselves down and were offered tea or coffee. There is a buffet breakfast but the choice is Minimal and unless you want boiled carrots or green beans for breakfast there is not much choice.
The location of this hotel is brilliant, so close to the old town, we went to Prague with lots of friends and they stayed in the new town and ended up walking to the old town where we were every night to find good bars. The Hard Rock Cafe round the corner on the way to the Clock is great for easy nice food.
All the staff at this hotel are wonderful and the lady on reception kindly booked a table for us at the hard rock cafe on our last night. If you need anything, just ask them as they will be more than happy to help.
To sum up, this was a nice hotel but we had really high expectations due to the awards and amazing reviews. If we did not read these reviews we would have been less disappointed so try not to read into things too much.

Without exception everyone in our group of 14 was full of praise for the whole trip to Prague.
This was due in no small way to the Savic hotel which was an ideally positioned base and within walking distance of a variety of interesting places. The hotel was well appointed and the reception and waiting staff were all extremely helpful. We would have no hesitation in recommending it to any visitor to Prague and it will be our hotel of choice if we return. It is a good place to dine too although there is no shortage of choice among the restaurants nearby.

Hotel Savic was magical. the rooms were from another dimension with the blend between 12/13th century history & modern elegance.
They were simply an art-form in themself!
State of the art, perfect location near Old Town Square and at the heart of Praha.

We will be staying here again & again in Prague! Only minutes to Charles Bridge/ Castle etc etc!
Perfect!

We returned home yesterday from a fabulous weekend at the Hotel Savic celebrating my 40th birthday.
What an amazing place. The staff really go out of their way to make you feel welcome from the welcome arrival drink, to the bottle of fizz sent up from reception on my birthday with a very kind note. This hotel is stunning.
We stayed in room 206 with a painted ceiling and were not dissappointed. The room was clean and the bed was probably the largest and most comfortable i've ever slept in!
The bathroom is a nice size and the bath is more like a pool, i could barely touch the end!
The breakfast here is vast with a great selection, omlettes cooked to order as well as pancakes, not to mention bacon, beans, toast, fruit.....the list goes on.
The lady on reception upon our arrival was very knowledgeable and couldn't do enough to help you settle in. So top marks for the staff.
The rooms have a mini bar which is very reasonably priced (no more expensive than the local shop) and anything you want is never too much trouble.
The little touches are what really make this hotel great and set it apart from the rest.
The location is fantastic, literally 2 mins walk, if that, to the main square. Everything is within an easy short walk.
We pre-booked a local taxi online before we left the UK and it takes around 25mins from the airport to the hotel and cost us around 550 Koruna.
One tip for travellers to prague is to exchange your money out there as you get a much better exchange rate.
We would definately recommend the Savic to anyone wanting to visit prague, the character of the place is amazing too.
We booked the Savic based on the reviews on here and we were not disappointed, location 10/10, staff 10/10, rooms 10/10 food 10/10 ambience 10/10.
I would say however this hotel is suited more to couples than families.
So the message to anyone looking for a Prague hotel is look no further, book this one!!!!

Room Tip: Room 206 is amazing, no view but stunning painted ceiling.
