Receptionist are friendly and helpful especially the young lady that come from Mongolia, lovely smile to welcome you. Hotel is is close to the tram so you can hear it during the night if like me very sensitive to sound. Room is clean although the furnitures appear to be old especially the wardrobes, I suggest to put some paper lining at least to drawers. Ladies bring your own favourate shampoos/ body shower. They provide shower/shampoo but I prefer mine. Bring your own proper tea bag if you like strong tea. Some of the beddings although it's clean, the one in our room it's worn out, ripped. The shower/bath need a stepstool for short people with short legs to climb to the bath.Ask for a room away from the lift/elevator as you can hear it if your room is next to it. Breakfast buffett is always the same with some salad, scrambled egg, sausages even had brocolli. selection of cereal and sweet bread/cakes.Would not mind it if the lady working there will at least smile or greet you. Oh well, before I forgot, it's cheap to buy bottled water to the shop near the hotel just 3 doors away to the R, you can also buy tram ticket there , lovely lady n helpful, also there is a fruit market in front of the hotel .

Room tip: away from front were you can hear the tram and away from the lift

Hotel is located near I.P. Pavlova station close to city center and other sights. I have a room at 3th floor with three beds.Room is clean and airy.Furniture seems antique and made from wood.Room is quite and good air conditioned. Bed is really soft for me. Bathroom is a bit small. Reception is 24h open and service is proactive and nice.

Hotel Tyl is a proof of how different experiences travellers can have of the same hotel. Though it claims to be a 4-star hotel, it in my wide travellers's experience isn't definitely more than a three-star accommodation. So I'll base my review on that categorisation.

We had booked a standard room for two nights and were given a room on the fifth floor. We had a bad night's sleep on the first night because the room was hot and stuffy (despite the aircon, which was controlled by the reception). The only way to get fresh air was to open the roof window, which meant a lot of noise (the trams screeching).

We woke up tired in the morning and went to the reception to ask for a room change. The kind receptionist gave us a new room on the first floor, and it was a totally different experience: the room was spacious, a lot cooler and more quiet - and in the same price category! If I had had to review Hotel Tyl after the first night, I would have given it two stars, but because of the room change, I think it deserves four, especially considering the price and the location ( a walking distance from thee main sights, excellent public transportation).

Breakfast was quite sufficient, though not the most versatile ones. The staff of the hotel were polite and efficient. One more thing that should be mentioned: if you are used to sleeping on a firm mattress, this hotel might cause you back ache...

Would I come back? Yes, but opting for a superior room.

Room tip: Opt for a deluxe room

This hotel is situated on the outskirts of New Town and is a 5 minute walk to Wenceslas Squair and a 15 minute walk to Old Town. The Hotel is clean comfortable and reasonable priced, with staff who will go out of there way to help, which they did. Breakfast was a typical continental breakfast with plenty of choice, my wife is a coeliac and had no problem with the menu on offer for breakfast. I would defiantly stay in this hotel on return to the beautiful city of Prague.

Stayed here two nights for a business trip in Prague and must say it's a good priced hotel on a nice location. Just outside of the city center everything is still reachable by metro or by foot. The breakfast is a bit basic for my taste but the rooms are clean and tidy and the staff is friendly.
If you want to see more of the city then there are better hotels closer to the city center. If you have something to do in the area then this is not a bad hotel.
