I have just returned from my 2nd trip to Prague and my 2nd visit to Hotel Josef.

I simply could not reccommend this hotel highly enough.

We arrived at the hotel around 11am after a very early morning travelling. We checked in easily and were given the same room that we stayed in last year, which was a lovely reminder of our previous holiday in Prague. We stayed in the Glass Bathroom styled room. The room is very nicely decorated and perfectly clean. Bed linen was beautiful and the bed itself was so comfortable - especially the pillows.

We were very hungry so decided to ask if it was possible to go down to the breakfast room as they were serving until 12.30. We asked at the front desk and they could not have been more helpful, we were then shown to the breakfast room where we had a wonderful brunch.

I have never had such good choice for breakfast at a hotel before, they had everything you could think of - fresh fruits, yoghurts, breads, cheeses, ham, salami, salmon, eggs, cereals, actimel drinks, orange juice, cranberry juice, apple juice, multivitamin juice, grapefruit juice, wide selection of fruit teas the list goes on. Also you are presented with a specials menu where you can order eggs cooked in many ways, pancakes with several different fillings, Eggs Benedict/Florentines.

THe hotel is situated in the perfect place for visiting all of the main parts of Prague, we could easily walk to everything without the need for a tram or taxi. The Old town square is only a 5 minute walk and Charles Bridge is about a 10-15 min walk. We also went on one of the river cruises on the river for dinner and this was only about a 10 min walk.

The staff at this hotel went out of their way to help and to provide a perfect stay. THey even put a complimentary bottle of wine in our room as it was a return visit. I would never think of looking anywhere else to stay in Prague. The only trouble is now when we go somewhere else we will always be comparing things to Hotel Josef, dont think you could get much better!

If you don't want to be stressed arguing with unscrupulous Prague taxi drivers about the route they have taken, or the fare charged, use the Hotel Josef car service. Most destinations in central Prague should cost between CZK120-180 if you can find an honest taxi driver. Even the taxi company used by Hotel Josef sends dishonest drivers. Four times to the same destination and my fare ranged from CZK140(actual) to CZK300(inflated). The hotel has several drivers with new cars. They are friendly, speak English, and charge by destination. Usually in the range of CZK250-280. Much the better option. You will arrive where you want to, on time, in a relaxed environment, and without stress.

Josef Hotel is situated in the old quarter, very handy to tourist attractions, we walked to all the touristy spots, restaurants, old churches, modern shopping spots all very handy to the hotel. When you arrive into Prague, phone hotel before hand and ask for a car to pick you up this way you won't be subjected to the crooked taxi co's which operate in Prague and you will feel safe. The hotel has the best breakfast we experienced any where and we were away for 3mths staying at 4 star accommodation. The staff speak English & are very obliging. We will go back one day.

Great hotel located perfectly as well.. and will most likely be the same hotel I stay at next time I go to Prag..

Stayed in Top-Floor Room (Pink House 8th floor) with very terrace and look above the roofs of the surrounding buildings.
Free Wi-Fi which works perfectly and very nice breakfast as well - incl. special cooked omelettes etc..

Turned up for 4 night stay only to be told all our 3 rooms were not ready because they were refurbishing the bathrooms and we have to stay in their sister hotel, Hotel Maximilian!!!! i was confused as they had 2 months in which to inform me of this and the hotel looked very busy....The "manager" on duty was rude and brash and made it seem like it was our fault that the room wasn't ready she offered 10 euro a night discount which was an absolute insult as we had 3 rooms booked at 120euro a night each.
Hotel maximilian was ok seemed more like a business hotel rather than boutique luxury wouldnt pay more than £50 a night for that. Day 2 moved into hotel josef.... it was clean and had a bar open till midnight... day 3 woke up to the sound of drilling..... Day 4 still drilling...All other staff were very helpful and couldn't fault them on service. But if you want a holiday with no headache i suggest the Marriot hotel old town which is better located, has bigger rooms and is better priced. Poor attempt at being a "boutique" hotel nothing special about it at all. btw sauna and gym looool, 2 tiny rooms which are unstaffed do not count as a gym and sauna!!!!

Thank you for taking the time out to give us a review of our hotel. We were undergoing reconstruction in some of the bathrooms at the time and thought it would be prudent to move you so as not to inconvenience you for the duration of your stay. This is also why we gave a free night for each of your rooms and a free upgrade to superior rooms. Your views are appreciated and in the future we hope you give us a chance to see us in a better light.
