We stumbled upon this (hotel) restaurant on the way out of the north gate of Vysehrad Fortress. The lunch menu was very reasonably-priced and had tasty Czech fare. The place has the feel of eating in a traditional library, cosy and warm. Very pleasant with friendly service.

Dogs are allowed in restaurant! Had we known this, we would NOT have eaten here. There were approximately 10 dogs and so much barking and noise. Not appropriate for a restaurant. When we asked to move, the waitress was not pleased and told us there were no other tables. She also rolled her eyes way too much!

The food was the good side of average and a good price however the animals ruined our experience. We got our mains before we’d even finished our entree and they hadn’t even cleared our plates so there was no room on the table. The waitress just looked at us as though, why aren’t you taking the food.

Wouldn’t return here.

My wife, I and a couple of our friends were looking for a place for christmas dinner. We finally selected "U Semika", and that was absolutely right choice. The place is absolutely stunning! The ambient is cozy and it feels like sitting by the fire place at grandparents house (even though there's no fire place in the restaurant). The personal is very friendly, polite and helpful. They can help you to make a choise by describing dishes in you language: they speak and provide dinning cards at least in Czech, English, German and Russian. The food was above expectations for more than reasonable price: main dish, salade and coffee per each of four people, three beers, hot wine and two apple pies as well as a bottle of water costed only about 2000 czk. I'd highly recommend this restaurant to couples, friends, or families for lunch or dinner.

The restaurant is designed in very interesting way, as a library. We had 3 plates, all of them were very good. Nice place.
