My wife and I spent 4 nights here and could not have been more pleased with our choice to stay here.

First of all. If you are looking for a place where the party doesn’t stop until dawn and there are hordes of touristy beach goers then this place is not for you. Neither is Eleuthera for that matter. This place is very, very quiet and after we slowed down to island time ourselves we loved it.

This places is great and the people are fantastic. The beaches are world class. But, Eleuthera in general and French Leave in particular are places for you to escape the world, the crowd, the noise and drama. There may be no better place to unwind and relax in peace and quiet. The staff are all outstanding but the resort is small (only 20 rooms) so there are only so many employees. They will bend over backwards for you if they aren’t already helping someone else. They will get to know you and are very easy to talk to. All of the locals know everyone so if you need something they know someone to take care of it for you. We needed a rental car and within moments one was arranged via text.

While the resort was fully booked during our stay there were rarely more than a handful of people at the beach, pool or restaurant. People mostly kept to themselves which was fine because that’s all we wanted too. We would lounge on our porch, take the cart to the beach, or lay around the pool. We were on our own schedule and it was great. The Illy Coffee in the room was a plus. You could summon some more via the iPad in the room if you needed more.

The rooms were very well appointed. Lots of space to spread out. You have two seating options on the patio. Inside there is a sectional and a bar area. The kitchen is large enough. The bathroom is very stylishly done. We decided it was something like what we would want our bathroom to be like at home.

There were a few drawbacks to our stay but nothing too bad. You have your own private cart to get to the beach (and it is an AMAZING beach) but that’s because you aren’t ON the beach. You’re overlooking the bay but the beach is on the other side of the island. It’s not a long drive but further than you would want to walk hauling beach gear. Also, there are no facilities at the beach. If you need to go to the bathroom you have to get back on your cart and drive. Not a big deal but my wife is someone who can’t seem to pee in nature so she had to leave every so often. There was construction going on right outside our room. Generally it wasn’t too bad but we could hear it. A couple of days they were blaring their radios and I’m surprised they were allowed to do that. Also, as a Marriott Platinum I generally get free breakfast. Breakfast was not cheap here so having to pay each morning added up.

Lastly, the restaurant is fantastic. I could have eaten every meal here. We would have been broke at the end if we had but the food was really good and there were lots of options.

French Leave Resort is the very definition of paradise! My wife and I stayed for 6 days, 5 nights to celebrate our babymoon and will definitely return. We would like to give a special thank you to Shamario for spearheading our gender reveal. He did a fantastic job. We were impressed with the level of service and care taken planning and executing our special moment.

The resort is well-kept, luxurious and simply beautiful. We stayed in Villa 11 (oceanfront) which has an amazing view for sunsets and is in close proximity to the infinity pool and 1648 Restaurant. Each villa comes with a golf cart to zip around the grounds of the resort and to get to/from the beach which is about half a mile away.

We also cannot say enough good things about the management and staff who treated us like family. The food at 1648 is also tasty. Don't forget to ask for "voz hot sauce" with your meal. It's like Frank's Red Hot but waaay better!

Thank you to Jahmed, Jennifer, Patrick, Shamario, Rudy, Rasheed, Kenneth, Sean, Ruth, Donn, Christano, Torez for making our stay a memorable one. Special thank you to Nigel for being a great ambassador for French Leave resort, his wealth of knowledge about Eleuthera and for coming to the rescue when we accidentally locked ourselves out of our villa.

Absolutely unexpected from Marriott Autograph Collection. I'm a Platinum, and this is probably one of the worst experiences. Reading positive reviews made me wonder if this was the same place, or if those who wrote them were so misguided by the honeymoon glow?

Check-in: waited for an hour before anyone showed up to the front reception. No welcome gift, no comp points, not even "thank you for your loyalty". They said the room was ready, but took another hour for them to bring the keys.

Contact: they don't ever answer their phones.

Pool/Restaurant: no staff working at the pool area. You literally have to go find someone to ask for beach towels (most of towels are disgustingly soiled). Needless to say, it's impossible to order anything at the pool. One night at the restaurant they didn't bring fly repellants so there were flies all over/in my meal. Asked to be seated inside, it took them 10 minutes. The food was inedible because of the flies - didn't change the plate and then CHARGED for the meal and hold your horses: 18% TIP. Not even an apology.

Other: Construction noise daytime. Housekeeping pretty awful - one day they didn't clean the room at all, the next day after they cleaned, they kept returning at random times with towels, then a few minutes later with water, then later with other things. Finally a bunch of unauthorized charges, including that dinner one, which I will be asking my credit card to resolve, because, of course, they don't answer their phone.

We only stayed 2 nights but the accommodation and amenities were amazing. Our flight was slightly delayed so we called the concierge because we had arranged for transportation from the airport to the hotel and they couldn’t have been more accommodating. Once we arrived we were greeted warmly and given a tour (in our golf cart) of the property. Our bungalow was charming and appointed with high end appliances and conveniences. The restaurant was perfect as was the wait staff who also served us by the pool. The only downside was once we ventured outside of the resort the restaurants were not plentiful nor up to the caliber of the French Leave. Next time we’ll just relax and enjoy the offerings of the Restaurant 1648. Thank you to Jahmed, Shamar, Nigel, Christano, Shawn, Torez, Patrick, Donn and Melissa, you all made our stay superb.

Room tip: We choose a room with a water/ harbor view which was exceptional. Sleep quality, service and amenities/cleanliness of the room was 5 Star.

My family just got back from a week at the resort and we are already trying to plan another trip this coming winter. We went down to eleuthera not knowing much other than what some friends had told us about the island. It is quiet and not built up at all and I think that is part of the charm. As for the resort it was a slice of paradise. It was sold out yet it was quiet and there never seemed to be a group larger than 6-8 people at the pool or the beach. The staff bent over backward to accommodate us. We were traveling with soon to be one year old son. Ideally this place is for couples but I would still recommend it to families. The restaurant is great as well. I can easily say that the mahi mahi and grouper were some of the best pieces of fish we have ever had. Also wanted to thank Torez for making my son smile and for extra orange slices.

Room tip: Ask for one with a direct ocean view so you can enjoy an unobstructed sunset
