We are in Dundas weekly and always stop into Detour for their fresh bread. We have also had their coffee and their lunches.
The food, bread, coffee is always excellent. The breads and baked goods are very limited in quantity and run out very quickly in the day. The new decor is bright and fresh. The shop is clean and bathrooms are very clean for being so busy. The staff are very nice but service gets backed up when the shop is busy.
The only PROBLEM is the ordering of food. There is no table ordering now. Once you sit there for a while you figure this out. You use a clipboard menu at the til to order as the people back up behind you. Then you have to go fill up your own bottle of water if you want water. Your food may appear at the side counter if you stand there and wait for it while people crowd around you for water, and milk and sugar for their coffee. If you find a place to sit they will deliver your food but the person delivering is not the person who took your order, so the staff wander about for a bit trying to figure out who gets what food.
The outdoor patio is very nice but food ordering has the same problems.
If they can return to table service guests and staff will be much happier. The staff will also receive tips which they do not receive now as the customer has to do all the work.
Let me remind you that the food, bread, and coffee is excellent.
