You feel like a celebrity arriving in this glamorous setting. Also lovely lakeside walk and views. But tricky steps down to basement room, hard with large suitcase! No lift. The room was really a bit dated and could do with redecoration. Not totally spotless but ok. Bed very comfortable however. Most disappointing was no kettle, and no obvious way of getting a tea or coffee - nice reception staff but not proactively helpful. However they did rustle up a kettle when we asked (one of 2 in the whole hotel apparently!) so we were grateful for that. Luckily had our own tea bags ;-)

Restaurant stupidly expensive and only two choices, so we went in to town instead, to Poppino, a nice Italian place, we recommend this. About 20 mins drive.

Breakfast was very good, loads of choices including dietary restrictions.

Overall felt geared to weddings and golf and corporate, rather than individual attention. If they invested in a spruce up of the rooms, and considered individual guest needs, I think they’d be able to charge more and quite rightly for the setting.

I spent a night with my husband in Vanajanlinna. The location, garden, house itself and golf resort area are beautiful, but standard rooms have seen better days. Bathrooms are from the 80’s or early 90’s and there is no air-conditioning in rooms. Breakfast was poor with no imagination, especially bread selection. It is also annoying that you have to pick up your tea or coffee from the buffet every single time. Where are the small pots you can take your table or even better, waitresses who bring them to you? I must say, I was disappointed. The dinner was superb!!

One night here on a businesstrip. The area is nice and historic, nicer in the summertime. Rooms ok and in different buildings. 5 course dinner was nicely served and wines ok. The meetingroom downstairs has a severe air quality problem, not good.
