For the last weekend of school holidays and to see our sons off for their final year of school we made reservations for ourselves and friends at Locale. On Saturday night Noosa was overflowing, restaurants and bars were packed with queues at some popular haunts. We knew parking would be horrendous so we availed ourselves of a driver and it made the evening far more enjoyable over several drinks. We did however, arrive some 15 minutes early and were directed to outside seating whilst our table was cleared and readied; drink orders were taken and arrived in reasonable time. We could not fault our waiters on the evening, prompt, courteous service and good banter exchanged with the more senior of them. Whilst management has no control over this, the noise levels initially were quite excessive and conversation at normal levels impossible. The acoustics of dozens of people all chatting and laughing surrounded by hard floors, walls and ceilings with live house music makes for a noisy place. It did quieten down later and normal volumes resumed. We enjoyed Antipasti, Primi and Secondi Piatti dishes, all were met with nods of approval and only empty plates left the table. Minor detractions for me were the scallops which were not firm in consistency, and the risotto slightly overcooked with a fainter taste than expected from spanner crab and the sea urchin butter. The standout dish was the mains of Black Angus beef fillet - perfect in every sense. Desserts were well done, with three of us enjoying a cheese platter with extra cheese provided later as a complimentary gesture by the house. Highly recommended, but ensure you make reservations well in advance during peak holiday times. Locale is definitely a contender for dining on our next visit to Noosa. Molto Buono.
