Fabulous service with good wine selection and couple of good beers on tap. Food was very good and nicely presented.

We visit Albany every year and it's all about the food for me, even though Albany also has amazing scenery and beaches. We love the orchard that sells stone-fruit picked ripe (Nicklup) and the bakery and the market on Saturday and the pick-your-own blueberries at Blueberry Lakes (outside Denmark) and the roadside cherries (which we bought at a lighting store in Denmark this time!!). For this trip I wanted to visit a few of the well-reviewed restaurants and we've been to Liberte, Ocean & Paddock and others. But the best was one I didn't know of until we got here. Tonight we went to Rats Bar and Kitchen. We weren't very hungry so we didn't need to eat much. We were seated quickly in a nice corner. There was a view of the street and bougainvillea framing the window. A few nice wines available by the glass. We ordered a stone-fruit salad which was delicious and bread with olives. But the winner was a serve of Hoisin chicken. It's described as chicken wingettes with hoisin sauce and we were expecting something sticky and tasty. These were both of those things but they came with a crunchy coating as well. So good. Really really good. There are a bunch of other delicious-looking items on the menu including a pork knuckle that we didn't have room for. Rats is definitely worth a visit.
Love the casual vibe of this place to enjoy a morning coffee, wine or some tapas. Great location with easy parking right outside.
This was close to our accommodation and in walking distance so we headed to this lovely little bar near Middleton beach. Great service and really excellent food (loved the mushroom risotto, lamb shanks and the lemon curd dessert was fabulous. Staff really helpful and knowledgeable about WA wines, a real find in this part of Albany.
Went out for a drink with friends here
They have a comprehensive list of wines to choose from with a strong focus on local wines- we picked the Montefalco Sangiovese
Ended up staying for dinner and were not disappointed with the meal we had
Had dinner and desert- all (4)of us were pleased with our selection
Generous portions beautifully presented and adequately flavour balanced
Would definitely go back - and highly recommended to anyone considering going there
It’s a small place but well patronaged
