We stayed here for a two night getaway to Phillip Island for Easter to see the penguins and explore the area, coming from Lakes Entrance. Understandably, the hotels on the island were pretty much all fully booked prior to Easter so we were lucky to be one of those people with an Easter booking. We understood that the room would not be the best we have stayed in due to being classified as ‘budget’, however this room upon arriving at the hotel was HORRENDOUS. These rooms should not be booked out to anyone, and at $378 for two nights it was absolutely atrocious that these rooms were charged at nearly $190 per night; they were in a disgusting state with the bathroom having water rust stains on the tiles and the shower curtain dirty and just everything feeling like a prison.
We walked straight out and told the lovely girl at reception that we just couldn’t stay in there and she understood, saying that the hotel has just been taken over by new management and there’s a lot of work to be done.
We were given a free upgrade to the ocean view spa room, which while being nicer than the budget room was still way below standard for the price charged for this room normally. 3 stars at most could be given to these rooms, they are dusty, unclean feeling and there were hairs on our clean towels. The towels themselves smelt musty and not like they had been disinfected properly. The bathroom was old and the hot tap would not turn on past a trickle. Everything is in pretty poor condition considering the price being charged. I hope management gets this hotel together ASAP, before more people are ripped off by staying here.

Customer Service - poor
Ocean View Room - outdated furniture, VERY dusty, uncomfortable beds, bathroom was APPALLING (mould and soap scum everywhere), noisy due to the bar/restaurant downstairs, only accessible via 4 flights of stairs, aircon dripping water right outside the door/outside hallway (slippery and very dangerous).
Location - perfect (right in front of the beach, Main Street within 2mins walking distance)

We only stayed 1 night for $350... NOT WORTH IT!

Across from the beach, booked hotel through Qantas. I thought they would have better accommodation on their books! Very ordinary rooms, 3* at best, cobwebs in corner of the ceiling, water damaged cornice, shower over bath pointing in the wrong direction. Not cleaned well as hair on shower wall, smudge mark on mirror, fridge stuck on coldest position so milk was frozen solid, no knob to turn it up. Tv was 5 channels at best and all showed encore free to air tv and pixelated every few minutes. Entry to rooms very dark and not clean. Reception was hard to find and when found the receptionist was obviously on island time, very slow but pleasant. Stayed in guest suite, which is on the side street, glimpse of bay from balcony. Not sure what front rooms were like but had a much better outlook.
Do not recommend this hotel. Lots of other better properties on offer. Phillip island is fabulous by the way and well worth a visit.

The setup of the hotel is a bit strange, entrance depends on room number. It was dark and reception was already closed, it was difficult to find our room.
The room had two seperate beds instead of one queen bed.
The room was clean and had a refridgerator.

We arrived on Friday afternoon, keen to get to out room after a long journey. Eventually we found Reception, which was a desk near the public bar. There were no signs at main or rear entrance suggesting where the reception desk was located.
We were given the swipe card for the room. It opened initially, then when we went to the car to fetch our luggage, it wouldn't let us back into the room. Back to reception we trudged, asked for it to be rectified. Again, card allowed one swipe into the room, then failed to work. 6 times we had to ask for proper operating cards to gain access to our room!

We booked a 'suite' which consisted of a room with a double bed and a bar fridge. No table, no chair. The second bedroom had 2 double beds and a bedside table. Again, no seating. Other than sitting on the bed or the toilet, there was no where else to sit. None of the bedrooms had fly screens. Both had roller blinds. The unit door was right on the public footpath. It was either have the blind fully down and a darkened room, or have blind up and every person walking down the street could see you sitting on the bed 2 feet from the window!

The television did not work, so combined with the swipe card access issues we asked to be moved to another room, which they agreed. No apology, no offer of upgrade or a complimentary drink etc. We moved 2 units down and whilst the swipe card worked the tv still had no available channels, and nothing else to recommend it.

The noise from the smokers area of the attached hotel was deafening and prevented sleep. Couldn't even turn on the tv to drown them out!! Both saturday and sunday mornings we were woken at 8am by the clancking of hundreds of glass bottles being tipped into the recycling skip. A delightful noise 5 feet from the bedroom window!

On the Saturday afternoon we went into the bar/dining area at 2 30 looking for a light snack and was told the kitchen was closed until 5 30.

This hotel has the potential to be very good, it's in a wonderful location, however, the owners or managers clearly have no interest in the business.

The room are basic and shabby. The service extremely lack lustre. The hot water system is very problematic. The shower runs for 2 minutes until the water is hot, then it dances between red hot and arctic cool for the duration of your shower.

The rooms need basic amenities such as fly screens, privacy curtains, operational tvs, seating offered in so called 'suites', better access for customers to meals, coffee etc.

The parking is side street parking, so can be used by anyone wanting to visit the pub or beach. We returned from the penguin parade at 9 30 pm and no parking was available causing us to have to park a couple of hundred metres away on a dark rainy night.

I recommend avoiding this hotel. Staying here will only lead to disappointment, and trust me, the staff won't care!!
