Thank you for taking the time to write about your stay with us. We strive to provide a very comfortable place for travellers to rest while they explore the beautiful east coast of Tasmania, and we are so pleased you found it exactly that - a home away from home.
My husband and I booked the Lookout for what was supposed to be a lovely quiet winter weekend getaway however, sickness in the family meant that our son had to come with us (sorry about that David and Dinky) because we had no intention of cancelling or rescheduling. The Lookout being only for two people meant that our son slept on the lounge but he was fine with that. As I said, we had been looking forward to this getaway, we didn't want to cancel. This time away and this location could not have been any better.
The Lookout was perfect in every way possible. The location, the quality, the finishing touches ie cushions, throws, heated towel rack, binoculars - I could go on and on as everything has been thought of. The bedroom and position of the bed and waking up to the sunrise - wow! Sitting out on the rocks at sunset with a glass of wine, looking for penguins by (specially modified) torchlight, what was planned to be a relaxing weekend, we found ourselves reconnecting with the lovely town of Bicheno. We were also very lucky to experience some gorgeous sunny weather.
We visited the Blowhole, spent hours at East Coast Natureworld, took a walk to Apsley Gorge, ate delicious food at Pasinis, The Gulch and Bicheno Tavern and got some pretty good coffee at Salty Splash.
We loved our stay immensely and hope to come back either just the two of us in the Lookout or the three of us, in the House.
Thank you so much for writing about your experience staying with us at Cod Rock Point. We are so glad you could still come and enjoy your adventure. Bicheno is a very special place and we are so glad you were able to reconnect during your visit.
Private, tranquil and picturesque, The Lookout at Cod Rock Point is nothing short of the perfect spot for a romantic getaway to relax and unwind on Tasmania's beautiful East Coast!
Spotlessly clean, light-filled and sunny, the entry level comprises a spacious and comfortable living and dining area and well-equipped kitchen with everything you need to self-cater (or to just serve the Tasmanian sparkling and delicious East Coast oysters you may have acquired on the Great Eastern Drive on your way to Cod Rock Point).
We were fortunate to enjoy absolutely glam weather despite visiting in the middle of winter, and woke up in the extremely comfortable king size bed on the upper level to views of the sunrise sparkling across the bay (tip: send your travelling companion out to fetch you coffee and freshly baked pastries from Little Bay Patisserie as you wake up to the sound of the waves lapping against the shore below, and watch kayakers and fishing boats go by).
Both levels have sliding doors opening onto sundecks and although it was a little too chilly to acquire the “all over sun tan” described on the website, they were private, sheltered and allowed us to follow the sun throughout the day, glass of Tasmanian Pinot in hand!
Having undergone a recent renovation, the new owners David and Dinky have created a relaxing beachside retreat with great attention to detail (quality linens and towels, binoculars by the bed for looking out to sea, comfortable reading nook and special penguin watching torch) that has been tastefully decorated to complement its coastal surrounds.
Separated from the water only by a verdant garden, it is a twenty second walk to the waterfront, where you can rock hop along to Red Bill Beach or the township of Bicheno across the East Coast’s trademark lichen covered granite boulders. Bicheno has a number of dining options to suit every taste (lobster rolls from The Lobster Shack and fish and chips at The Gulch are a must), and Cod Rock Point is perfectly positioned to explore Freycinet National Park, Douglas Apsley Gorge, Bay of Fires and Devil’s Corner Winery. We look forward to visiting again… next time for longer!
Wow, thank you so much for your very kind words. We are so happy you enjoyed every last bit of your stay at Cod Rock Point, we are so lucky to have such an amazing spot and we really do hope we have done it justice? We are so happy you have loved it and enjoyed it as much as we do every single time we are there, and we look forward to your extended Cod Rock Point stay next time!
We absolutely loved the location with its stunning views, easy stroll to rocks, beach and penguin territory. It was also a quick drive to the shops and facilities.
The house itself was well appointed with all the basics our family stay needed. The parents retreat and balcony were an added bonus. Great family friendly movie collection for cold nights in. Really appreciated the redlight torch and advice on penguin watching... we sighted a few a short stroll from the house- a real treat.
Thank you for taking the time to write about your stay at Cod Rock Point Apartments. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and found everything you needed for a relaxing time away with your family. We are so lucky with the location, and look forward to welcoming you back to Cod Rock Point again soon.
We stayed 3 nights at "The House" at Cod Rock Point.
Was a lovely and large two bedroom, two story house.
Downstairs is and large living / dinning room with very comfortable furniture and large TV. On the ground level there is one bedroom(King Size Bed) with a separate bathroom (shower) with toilet.
Upstairs there is another bathroom (shower over bath) with toilet. The second bedroom is the size of a normal hotel room. Has a lovely King Size Bed, its own lounge and TV and a wonderful patio with majestic views
The Kitchen is very well stocked, even had salt and pepper. Dark towels are also supplied if you want to go for a walk along the beach to keep your feet clean.
We were very lucky that on the three nights we stayed there were penguins in the gardens and sheds in the yard.
The beach is only a 5 min walk from the house. Bicheno is a wonderful seaside town with plenty to do in town and in the surrounding area.
I would recommend the Fish and Chips from "The Gulch" and the food from the Blue Edge Bakery and the Little Bay Patisserie were also of a very high standard.
Can't wait to revisit
Thank you so much for writing about your stay at 'The House'. We are very fortunate to have such a great position at Bicheno near the beaches, the restaurants, and the foreshore walk (and the resident penguins). We look forward to welcoming you back to Cod Rock Point Apartments again on your next visit to the beautiful east coast.
Was an absolute pleasure to stay in the Lookout for a couple of nights in May. David & Dinky have done an amazing job renovating over the past year and the result is an amazing place, close to the waterfront and everything Bicheno has to offer, while being perfectly quiet and private.
The Lookout is very cosy with great heating, both semi block out and block out blinds on each window and the opportunity to watch the sunrise without even getting out of bed. To top it off a chilled bottle of local wine was in the fridge waiting. Fantastic place and would love to come back again!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a fabulous few words about your stay at The Lookout. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay, it has been a labor of love for us and we now get a great thrill seeing people enjoy it as much as we do.
