We were in town for a get together with a larger group of trikers. Jen and I decided to have a late breakfast here as we have eaten at the Tillermans before and it was lovely. We were shown to a table with a good view of the street and the river beyond. There was a beautiful cool breeze coming from the water.I . I ordered the big breakfast and Jen ordered corn fritters. Yum, I am not generally a big breakfast eater, but this was beautiful and lots of it, everything was cooked to perfection as was Jens. Quite a few of our mates came in for coffee as well.

Tillermans produces some of the most amazing meals we have enjoyed for some time. Located in the sleepy village of Tea Gardens it is a hidden gem. We have had lunch here some months before and enjoyed the menu and as we were visiting again we had decided to have dinner there.
The venue is rustic and tables sit on old sewing machine frames. I guess from an old Sydney restaurant in the Rocks. The ambience is extremely warming and comfortable overlooking a park and the water.
We chose the grilled Asparagus for the entree which was delicious and served on a slices of citrus which offset the richness of the asparagus.
One main was another entree - the baked octopus which was Devine. The octopus tender and perfectly cooked and a delight to eat. There was a hint of Garlic. The other main was a Beetroot tart served on a pastry base and the other ingredients absolutely perfect, and included pomegranate, onion, walnuts and a marinated feta. The combination, presentation and flavour absolutely stunning. It is unlike any other meal I have eaten and thoroughly enjoyed. A magnificent vegetarian meal for a change.
We declined to order sweets as the previous serves were more than adequate.
Wine served by the glass from a good selection of Australian and French labels, Rose was quite prominent as it complemented the delightful flavours of the food. The Red selections were excellent as well.
Service was very friendly efficient and unobtrusive and a perfect break between entree and main. The prices are not cheap but the food is worth every cent.
As the menus changes frequently here there is no chance of getting bored with the same menu time after time.
A very strong recommendation and I would say a booking is essential so you don't miss out.

We've been here a few times now. Whenever we go to Hawks Nest we find the time to pop into Tillermans. Always for dinner and we've never been disappointed. The service is consistent and the food is really good. The menu is not too large, but always something on it that you know you will enjoy.

We were really looking forward to our breakfast as the ratings for this restaurant had looked impressive.

However, although we would rate the coffee a 10 out of 10, the rest was very disappointing and would struggle being rated 1 out of 10.

Waited 45 minutes for bacon and eggs - the driest bacon I’ve ever tasted, with cold fried eggs - terrible.

I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone - far better to go to the Boathouse just up the road about 150 metres away.

Wonderful dinner in an almost unlikely place. The food was wonderful. The slow cooked lamb was beautiful. $21 bottle of reasonable wine in the restaurant, who can complain about that? There were other more upmarket choices on the wine list. The lavender crème brûlée was wonderful as well. I would not recommend the chocolate soufflé. The service was okay, perhaps good if you think of a small town restaurant on a busy Saturday night.
