This place is always packed and the food is why. Humble and delicious, no pomp and circumstance just great tasting food. Sashimi, teriyaki and the tempura all scrumptious. Met with old friends in this friendly establishment.

We went to Hana Japanese restaurant based on their trip advisor rating of 4. Unfortunately, I don't believe that this rating is deserved. The food is average at best and lacked any finesse in presentation that you would normally associate with Japanese cuisine. One of the dishes that we ordered was the grilled salmon. The salmon was perfectly cooked with a nice crisp skin. However, it was placed on the plate with a few haphazardly arranged steamed vegetables. Very poor presentation. The other main we ordered was grilled octopus which was not available on the night we were there. We chose an alternative of grilled squid which again was well cooked, but again presented on the plate with a few vegetables.

I also order a beer to go with the meal but it arrived luke warm. It was replaced without question when I pointed this out, however it should not have arrived if it was not cold.

As the number of rateable resturants in the Blue Mountains early diminishes we have to cherish what's left.Hana does a great value set lunch where for $12 you get great prawn and vege tempura rice miso etc...no reheated food to be seen..well presented and authentic without being complicated..an ethnic gem

I had to do a bit of convincing of the better half to get to this restaurant. It does not look much on entry but once in the decorations were subtle. We ordered Gyoza, Miso, Mixed Tempura and Teriyaki Steak. All of the dishes were absolutely delicious and even my wife said she loved it.The service was very prompt and for a small restaurant they had about 4 cooking. The bill was only $60 plus tip and with it being BYO you could also bring wine that you knew you would like. Next time in the Blue Mountains we will be back.
