Any eating establishment that is located 50 kilometers from the nearest competition generally means poor quality and limited options. Not so here. The cuisine is Thai, and is authentic. The owners will personally serve you, recommend choices, and cook to order.

The store part of this operation is very limited (as in nothing for sell except some local handicrafts), which may be due to the lateness of the season when we visited. They told us that generally they were closed this time of year, but enough of us intrepid travelers were still visiting the area to keep the place open. We went there for the food, and glade we did.

If you are within 100 kilometers, and want a nice meal, the Border Store is your choice.

We were on a private tour of Kakadu National Park and were staying at the Mercure Crocodile Hotel. After a sunset visit to Ubrr, our guide suggested that we stop and have dinner here instead of the hotel. Our guide knew the owner and his family and we received great service. The food was excellent and freshly prepared. The portions were large and a good value for the money. No alcoholic beverages are sold, but the range of fresh juices and tea was extensive. The menu is primarily Thai food.

We came across this place on the way to Ubirr. It is something of an oasis in Kakadu. Very understated but some nice outdoor seating. It was quite busy but we decided to try the Thai curry for lunch. Other reviews suggested that there could be a wait at dinner times after sunset at Ubirr. The wait time for the lunch was short and the food was really good. A great find.

We stopped here several times on our recent visit to Kakadu, both for refreshments and also for dinner after watching the sunset. They do a great range of fresh fruit drinks and thai food - the portions are very good.

Very friendly staff. Layed back relaxing atmosphere. Very yummy food. Loved the ice tea.
Recommend you go watch the sunset at Ubirr then have tea here afterwards. You'll love it!
