We stayed three nights in a two bedroom unit at the front for which was part of the older part of the motel. While being clean and had all the kitchens things we needed, it is definitely a typical old style motel with carpet on the walls. The pool was clean and the kids swam for a bit. Location is good being close to the beach, restaurants & cafes. It was reasonably priced although I guess you get what you pay for. We saw through to a couple of the newer units and they looked a bit better. Free wifi & SKY TV was a plus.

Large spotlessly clean units, comfortable and spacious. Though on a main road, quite private. Pool was also very clean. Lots of greenery, friendly management, great WiFi and a really good location, a short walk to everything you could need, beach, restaurants, pubs etc. Nice family atmosphere. Had a nice visit from Jerry, the talkative cat. I would stay again and probably will.

Clean, quiet motel, stayed as a family with no issues. Pool is clean and while it is out front, it is private from the street. Extra bonus for daughter was trampoline and swings to play on, which got a lot of use! Location is great, 2 minutes drive from beach and funpark, and down the road from restaurants and takeaways. Management was friendly, and helped us with local map. Would stay again.

We stayed here 2 nights, it was dated inside our 2 bed unit, which had Sky TV and free wi fi. The rooms were all a good size except the kitchen which was small, with not much space to cook in. There was a shared BBQ to use and kids went in to the pool (which did not seem to be heated). It's also close to the main beach and an easy drive in to Nelson. Not sure I would go back.

There is a mix of older and new apartments we were in an older one but that was no problem. The owners were friendly and helpful the rooms clean and well equipped. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen more than adequate. There is also a swimming pool for use in warmer weather. The Balmoral is well situated for the beach (5 mins walk) and for the WOW exhibition as well as for central Nelson itself.

Room tip: Ask on booking some rooms newer than others
