Owner description: The Margaret River Golf Club is a private club open to both new members and visitors. The club is located in the heart of the Margaret River Wine Region, just 5 minutes drive from the town centre, and situated on the Leeuwin-Naturaliste Coastal Ridge. The 6092 metre par 72 course is one of Western Australia’s most highly regarded country courses. The golf course was created by a group of golfing enthusiasts in the early 1950's in a bushland cleared setting near the mouth of the Margaret River and winds its way up and down the slopes of the coastal ridge. This spectacular setting is complemented by an abundance of flora and fauna, native and local trees. The resident kangaroos have been a major attraction for visitors, golfers and non-golfers alike for many years. Although not heavily bunkered, the course features numerous water hazards, mostly on the front nine holes. The back nine in particular requires careful shot consideration owing to the undulating fairways and large trees. The Margaret River golf course is in pristine condition year round and at its perfect best during the winter months especially. Visitors are welcome but bookings are essential. Clubs, buggies and carts are available for hire at the Margaret River Golf Shop on course, that also stock a wide range of Hire Golfing equipment, Golfing essential and also has a great stock of Golfing Fashion apparel. The clubhouse offers a well stocked bar and stunning views over the course from the verandah. Visitors Price List & Information Visitors are welcome to play at Margaret River Golf Club. This was my first round of gold ever and my partner was stoked that it was able to be at this course. The grounds were beautifully kept and the wild kangaroos and many birds added a lovely feel to the club grounds. The holes were all well maintained and the lovely couple in the front shop were so friendly and helpful!! We'll be back!

Played the course today and found it to be challenging, long and in great condition despite the rain. The greens are excellent and fortunately we didn't find ourselves in any bunkers but they were well maintained. John in the pro shop is excellent and full of helpful advice. A pleasure to play and we hope to do so again if we have time. Well done to all.

We had a great afternoon of golf here. As a group of two actual golfers and four 'beginners', we really enjoyed the mix of easy and more difficult holes. Special mention must go to John in Golf Shop who was exceptionally hospitable, welcoming us to the course and making sure we were set up with clubs and carts. Would definitely recommend a visit here, a beautiful course in a spectacular setting.

Wow, a great course in beautiful natural bush surroundings on the Leeuwin Ridge, located halfway between the Margaret River township and the coastal village of Prevelly. A delight for players of all abilities. If the golfs bad; the Kangaroos and the view from the #18 tee box are a wonderful distraction!!!!!
The fairways and greens were first class, congratulations to the green keepers.
The gentleman in the golf shop was a breath of fresh air; so helpful and accommodating. We hired a cart & clubs.
Afterwards we enjoyed a post game beverage on the verandah deck overlooking the peaceful surrounds of the manicured gardens and the #10 & #13 fairways.
This experience topped off a wonderful holiday in Marg River.
Can't wait to return.

On one hand, there is no surprise :all the nice comments I read on TripAdvisor are true, in particular the kindness of the pro, John, who's also passionate about birds. On the other hand, even if the fairways are wide and in extremely good condition, as well as the greens (5 stars !), the course isn't that easy: treatrous slopes, bothering branches, etc. I only had time to play 9 holes and maybe that was fortunate according to my score... Still, that was a great experience. A single critical point: the numerous kangaroos grazing on the course have absolutely no consideration for the etiquette and don't bother raking the bunkers !
