When making a booking for this restaurant make sure you ask for ground floor if you don't like steep narrow stairs!
The food is very tasty and very reasonably priced. The service was not too bad, but not fantastic. It started well (being offered water as soon as we were seated), drinks came quickly, but the meals came out 5-10 minutes apart.
Desert and coffees came out reasonably quick. Highly recommend the choritos (I don't know how to spell it) with the Salted Caramel sauce, for dessert.

Had a lovely meal for two adults here last Saturday night. Entree was lovely followed by the paella that we shared. Wine was delicious. Service was fantastic! Lovely ambience, lighting and lane way access.

We had previously dined here and given a good review. However returning with high expectations we were more than disappointed. The menu had changed and certainly seemed to have less choice. We ordered just a few Tapas and bulked out the meal with a paella. The quality of the food had taken a nosedive, patatas undercooked, albondigas dried out and a paella that was burnt on the bottom ( and I mean black as charcoal). When we raised this with the waitress, her response was that it was meant to be like this and all paellas had a crust. Whilst she was correct that a good paella is meant to have a crust (the socarrat) on the bottom, the skill is in cooking to a point where the crust forms without burning. I resented the pretentious stance she took that she knew better than we did. Fortunately, having travelled extensively in Spain for 20 years and had my fair share of authentic Spanish cuisine, I knew she didn't have a clue.

The level of service was poor from the start. We had a couple of waitresses, one of whom was very grumpy and when clearing our plates scrapped them at the table. I've never seen this done in any restaurant anywhere. Totally unprofessional and not acceptable - ever

The nail in the coffin was when the restaurant allowed in a rather loud and rude family group who were only wanting drinks and a dessert to share, but were placed beside us as we were finishing our meal. We decided to skip desserts and coffees at this stage and just get out.

Not a restaurant that cares about its customers and the consistency of their food, they just want to make a quick buck at any cost.

Before heading to Bendigo some research turned up the Sangria Spanish Tapas Bar.
I phoned to make a booking and was pleasantly surprised by the girl who took my booking - upon arrival it was exactly the same, very cheerful, friendly and welcoming!
The Tapas was of a very high standard, and each plate was well described by two very courteous waitresses.
At the end of the evening, we had a sherry from the drinks menu which was sensational!
We have not experienced such friendliness and courtesy, nor such good wholesome food in a long, long time......and can hardly wait to return!!
