I have emailed to this restaurant a week before our arrival date and time ,yet they have not prepare a place for 6 of us so we have to wait ! My husband wants to use the toilet but got ask what is he doing here by the staff , obviously he got offended as he is a guest here . The waitress was good in service , the seafood was average , the seats and tables was small , overall not worth our time .

We had fish and chips, they were very tasty but came in a fake newspaper cone which we thought was a bit pointless. If, like us, you are a pom who likes vinegar, you'll find that it runs out of the bottom of your cone. So we had to put them on our plate - which could have been done in the first place!

We were recommended this restaurant, and decided to check it out. It wasn't open until 5pm and we were walking around Queenstown during the day and went past and it didn't look too exciting...HOWEVER, we figured we would come back as it did come highly recommended. Well, we weren't disappointed...the food was brilliant, the seafood so fresh. The wine suggestions from the staff were spot on and the place come 5pm was just buzzing, obviously this place is well known and popular, both for the food and the atmosphere. From what we were told by the staff it was originally a fish and chip shop and has been there for over 20 years. We highly recommend this and can't wait for a chance to go back if we get to Queenstown again.

What it lacks in lakeside ambience, it makes up for with great seafood, excellent service
and location. Right in the heart of Queenstown you find young professional servers committed to providing top notch service. The manger/owner, ((Mark) who has owned the restaurant for 6 years with chef Darren)) is running around in very casual attire , and yet he provides the hospitality, expertise and insight of a restauranteur you would normally find at an established 5star+ restaurant.
The greens are organically grown in the chef's garden and the seafood is provided by long term , reputable suppliers. All seafood is delivered that very day despite Queenstown being 100km from seaside.
Everyone walking out of the restaurant appeared happy and satiated. I heard others rave about the sole and the steak ( yet Fishbone is known for it's seafood). The squid (appetizer) and fish and chips I ordered were fantastic. The cocktail sauce was a bit on the sweet side but seemed to compliment the fish.
If you are looking for great seafood, Fishbone Bar and Grill is the place to go.
