I like very nice accommodation, so I wasn't expecting too much from the Mercure at Queenstown. I don't think of Mercure in the Hilton/Marriott/Sheridan sort of category. Well I have to say, it was a pleasant surprise. Our room overlooked the lake and snow capped mountains; fantastic view. The decor was modern - a black and white theme, with an adjustable heater. It was very nice.
The staff were very friendly; happy to help with bus timetables, and local places to visit. The restaurant in the Mercure was reasonably price, and the menu was definitely family friendly. Something for everyone. We had breakfast included, and whilst it was very nice, it would have been great to have more variety, and perhaps a chef to cook eggs/omelette the way you like it. Small thing, but just a thought.
Loved the fact that they have a coffee van near the breakfast venue, and you can organ a sandwich/packed lunch to take to the ski fields with you. All in all, I would definitely go back; very nice. Also great that they have washing facilities at a reasonable price.More
