It is an easy stroll around the gardens. The roses were in bloom and looked lovely. There are a number of magnificent tress all marked with the Botanical and common names as were many of the other plants. I believe every season would bring something different to the Gardens. With it being early Autum the colours were just starting to show off. There is frisbee golf. somthing I had not seen before but there were a few people enjoying the challenge and it was a free event. Just bring your own frisbee. The walking times advertised at the start of the walk were true if you could keep walking. We found it hard not to stop and take in the views. Most enjoyable.

Visited late March 2018. Trees just starting to turn. Hired bikes and rode around garden and waterfront.

It is well worth a walk round to the garden and its peninsula. Roses were magnificent and gave off fantastic scents.

A bit hard on the knees but this garden is well maintained and offers lovely walks by the side of the lake. There is a fantasticcafe just outside of the garde on the edge of the lake.

We visited an afternoon mid February and escaped the crowds in town! There is a walk round the edge of the park by the lake which will take you on to the Queenstown trail or double back up hill into the gardens. There is a rose garden (past its best but helpful gardeners who pointed out those with the best scents), a bowls club and tennis courts. There are also a number of flower beds a reasonable sized pond and loads of trees and grass where people could also play Frisbee golf. The use of rocks as park features was impressive and we thought using them and also trees for siting memorial plaques was clever - there is also a memorial to Capt Scott and his team.
