Signal Hill lookout offers a spectacular view of Dunedin. The lookout point is just a short 10 minutes steep uphill drive (5.5km) from Dunedin Railway Station. It is a quite place with not many tourists during the day and I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Great view looking out over Dunedin. Go up on a fine day, also nice to see sunrise or sun set, highly recommend to drive up.

You have to work your way up to get here, and it is not very clearly indicated, but this is a great lookout. It is deserted, spacious and offers a stunning view of a large part of the area.

After visiting Baldwin Street (the world's steepest street), I drove up to the Signal Hill lookout, which is just a 10 minute drive from Baldwin Street. Thanks to the narrow road that prevent tour coaches from going up, the Signal Hill lookout is blissfully free from tour groups and large crowds that plague Baldwin Street. In fact, when I was at the Signal Hill lookout, I was the only person there. There is a war memorial at the lookout, and there are great views of Dunedin and the Otago Peninsula. For the adventurous, there are mountain biking trails and hiking trails going down the hill. There is no toilet at the lookout.
