Hubby and I went here years ago for 5 nights. It's alittle out of town but having a hire car made it no problem.
We were shown to a two story villa overlooking the lake. OMG it was beautiful. There was a large living/dining and kitchen area downstairs and a HUGE bedroom / study area and bathroom upstairs. The bathroom was glass walled and jutted out almost over the water. You could sit in the bath with the blinds up and no one could see you because of the layout of the resort and the distance from the golfers.
Because it was self contained, we cooked our own meals so I'm not sure if there was a restaurant there but I'm sure there was.
This is partly a residential complex and the private homes were amazing.
At the time, there was no pool which was disappointing. This may have changed.
A couple of times little things were missed by housekeeping and they were attended to once I brought them to the attention of the manager.
But I thoroughly enjoyed this luxurious place and enjoyed the whole area which was very pleasant for evening walks. The sunsets were amazing.

We were in Christchurch visiting family, but decided to take the opportunity to visit Clearwater golf club after the recent NZ Women's open. We were made to feel so welcome and invited in for some photographs with the ISPS Handa trophy and Lydia Ko's bag that we took the chance to arrange a game there the following week. From start to finish the service from the Pro shop was outstanding (including arranging hire clubs, golf carts etc), the course is magnificent and ranks among the best we have played in the world, this was then followed by an excellent meal in the clubhouse and once again we were made to feel most welcome by everyone we came into contact with. I would thoroughly recommend any golfer in New Zealand to arrange a game at this course and enjoy the hospitality provided.

As we were staying at the adjoining resort we were able to play for 175.00NZ for the whole day with cart and access to Members Lounge. Played it twice one day and wish we could have played more.
The 2 staff in the pro shop are awesome! The best we've encountered in all our travels. Courteous, helpful, anticipating our needs, escorting us to the lounge, introducing us to the bar staff, etc.
The course is also in perfect condition. Great greens and lots of waters along with great views. Home of the NZ Open and we know why.

Having played some of finest golf courses in the world, I expected a good golf course here but was very surprised when I found it be so much more... From the moment we arrived the staff were warm and friendly, nothing was a problem even when we were running about 10 min late for our tee time, the golf staff sent another group off first so we didn’t have to rush and could practice a putt! Just as well as the greens were excellent in every way, they were true and challenging, but not in any way hard to the point of ridiculous like so many other resort courses. The fairways are immaculate, the bunkers well-groomed and the lakes are mesmerising with crystal clear water. After our round we were invited into the "Members Lounge" for a beverage and something to eat, Clearwater is a stunning place to play golf and this is matched by the genuine friendliness of the staff and members also. If you’re in or near Christchurch it’s a must play for any visiting golfer. AAA+++

The Clearwater Resort was chosen for two nights because, well, we had never been there before.

We chose the villas overlooking the lake and it was a good choice. Great views, really comfortable and good quality. The maintenance crew came quickly to fix a heating problem. Nice one!

Dinner in the restaurant was good quality, beautifully presented and served by really great staff. Nice one, 2.

Recommend for its quality and closeness to Christchurch.
