A group business friends chose the King of Snake for dinner based on several of the group raving about the food.
We selected a variety of dishes including wantons, salads, fresh tuna, squid, beef cheek curry, crispy duck, spicy prawns, chicken kung po, and more.
All were good. None were bad. But I felt everything I tried, and I tried everything, could have been improved.
Plus the seating in uncomfortable; hard chairs, stools and benches.
It didn't live up to the hype.

I have eaten here several times. It is always busy which is a testament to the excellent food. Service is quick, food is delicious, interesting, well presented. Only drawback is that the restaurant is often crowded and noisy. King of Snake deserves to be this popular but suggest you book in advance and book a side table if you want a romantic evening or to chat to friends

The food is super delicious, but a bit pricier than your average restaurant. But the flavours and combinations are really worth it for a special night out. I would book a table next time as the bar stools were quite high and a bit tricky to sit in.

King of Snake is definitely a must go dining experience while in Christchurch. The food was delicious - it was honestly some of the best food I have ever eaten. I highly recommend the beef cheek curry - delicious. Service was great and the place have a nice vibe.

Went out for Mother's Day for dinner at King of Snake and the food was absolutely divine. We started off with the sticky beef wontons. crispy squid and spiced chicken wings, went with the duck cooked 3 ways (a special, not on normal menu), yellow fin tuna salad and beef cheeks penang curry and finished with the chocolate fondant and manuka honey mousse (also a special). Lovely atmosphere and decor, will definitely be going back!
