Originally a corner pub, The White Hart, the Snug Lounge is opposite the Govett-Brewster Gallery. The very cosy snug bar has been retained while the rest of the interior has been modernised into a bar/cocktail lounge with about five quite different seating areas, including a covered outdoor area. The food is Japanese style small dishes – a fabulous assortment. We had five dishes between two, which was plenty. Stand out dishes were squid, beef, kumara balls and a dish of broccoli. Steamed rice was free. There is an option of a large plate of one of each of the small plates for $25.00 per person – good value for a large group.
The wine list and cocktail list were impressive and the service was excellent, even though it was a very busy night on a long holiday weekend.
