So we stayed for a short night, just to get some sleep on our journey. Even though we arrived late (7–8 pm) the staff was friendly and helpful. We had a double room which was small but enough space for two people. Shared bathrooms were clean but old (they probably had seen better days). There was a common room, a kitchen and I even think there was laundry service - but we never got around to use any of them.

To summarize: if you're not the sensitive type and wish to spend your money on other things than hotels - this is the place for you!

the hostel is fairly clean, although a bit dingy. could do with a renovation. staff is not overly friendly. my biggest problem was the cold. the whole hostel is like a freezer, yet the owners insist on keeping the doors wide open. May is not winter yet, but it's still around 5 degrees celcius during the night and max 15 during the day. i hope i didn't catch a cold..

This is hostel is quite outdated, the TV room has a gas fire! But it's all part of its charm. The wi-fi was great, worked in my room. The beds were fine, each one had a little shelf and a light. Could have done with more plug sockets though. There were a few positioned very closely to each other which made it difficult for everyone to use with big travel adapters and it was also high on the wall so you had find something to balance your device on. Other than that they were fine.
Staff were friendly enough. Kitchen was good too. Quite big, plenty of room.
Great location, across the road from the beach, 5 minutes from Pack N Save, 10 minutes from the shopping centre.
Very quiet, unusually so. But this worked in our favour really.
Good value for money.
If your looking for somewhere quiet then it's great.
Not a part hostel. There were families with young children and people in their 60's staying here.

Hostel is ok. A male who lives in a flat downstairs who I assume is the manager is so rude. He screamed at a girl for cooking one minute past 10.30pm which is the time the kitchen closes. Made a fool out of her in front of everyone and asked her if she was blind and pointed to the sign that stated no cooking after 10. Where are your customer service skills? You don't deserve to be running that hostel if that's how you treat paying customers. Sort it out YHA.

Really enjoyed staying at this hostel staff and guests all very friendly everything you need and a really nice building to stay in. Would definitely recommend - in walking distance of town - can park outside but only for 2 hours in daytime - but there is parking on the road behind.
