We've been here twice in recent times & gone for different things from the menu each time.
The staff are friendly, mostly attentive & onto it.
The decor is simple & immersive.
The food is stunning. It's well presented, great tasting and authentic.
The only drawback for me is the price. Each time we have come it's been approx $270 as a couple...& this is with only a little alcohol. You can easily spend upwards of $400 as a couple.
Don't get me wrong - stunning place, but not something we can do often due to the cost.

We had one of three diner options available (all must be prebooked) - called "Omotenashi" which was the $170pp 8 course sushi & sashimi. The meal spread out over approx. 3 hours and at the end of it, we were completely full.

The starter was a small portion of very delicate whitebait tempura cooked with green tea salt. The next course was a huge platter of fresh assorted sashimi, beautifully presented, with 4 different dipping sauces. And so it went on through lovely flavoured crayfish miso soup, sushi, finishing with a beautiful chocolate ganache! There was only one dish that I didn't particularly enjoy, their Nigiri sushi. It may have been the selection of fish or that it was just too much raw fish in the same meal as the sashimi. For this reason I probably wouldn't choose the sushi and sashimi course again for diner.Next time I will go for lunch and have a la carte.

Outstanding service overall, each course carefully explained as it was brought to the table. They also have an amazing wine by the glass (and bottle) list, concentrating very much on boutique wineries in NZ and elsewhere. The wines are not cheap, around $16/18-$21/glass. The surroundings are "minimalistic", concrete floor and ceiling with touches of wood here and there. Our $170pp meals, one non alcoholic drink and 4 glasses of wine, and the bill came to $440. Another option they offer is sake and wine pairing with the meal for $95pp.

Lovely Japanese modern fusion fine dining restaurant where we had their degustation menu and wine / sake pairing. The dishes were fresh and full of flavour. The most memorable dish was the special wagyu beef nigiri with NZ truffle. I wished we could’ve added on the signature sushi / sashimi but were told these requires 24 hours notice. So we will be back!

We had the pleasure of the degustation dining and it was superb with flavours and delicacies to salivate over. There was a wonderful variety of food sources which were meticulously presented and always ‘introduced’ by the very efficient waiting staff who appeared enthusiastic for us to know exactly what we were about to consume. The day of our booking we were contacted to make sure if we had dietary ‘issues’ that they could be addressed accordingly which was a great benefit as one member of our party does not eat fish - this was easily overcome in advance and made for us all a wonderful and memorable dining out with a difference occasion - maybe some of the ‘plates’ could have been slightly larger in portion ie the course served in the individual ‘chests’ and the desserts. Overall though a good dining experience especially too as the acoustics being so good we were able to engage in easy conversation - often a ‘novelty’ in restaurants today!
