We attended a sneaker exhibition here some time ago. It was excellent and we really enjoyed ourselves.

The gallery itself is easy to get to, easy to find and easy to get around.

Very interesting art and sculpture. I especially liked the large statues by the staircase on the ground floor.

Very good and eclectic mix of different periods, different styles and cultures.

Definitely worth a visit.

The Art Gallery of Western Australia is a fabulous place to visit while in Perth.

The exhibitions are FREE. There are examples of wonderful artists. From Cubbins views of Settlers in Australia, Rodin sculpture and work by Stanley Spencer. The variety of artists and styles of work will make the visit wonderful for all.

Visit the AGWA several times while in Perth and enjoy.

We visited this as a little time-filler during a family break in Perth (before flying off) and had a fantastic time. Not too big and really enjoyed both the more traditional and modern artists on display.

The gallery is part of the Perth cultural centre and is very close to the railway station.

There is a fine collection of indigenous art and I liked the special exhibition by Julie Dowling.

Mainstream art Australian art is well represented by the likes of Charles Conder, Sidney Nolan, Grace Cossington-Smith, Arthur Streeton and Frederick McCubbin.

I enjoyed the work of West Australian artist Guy Grey-Smith, whom I'd not come across before.

There was a good selection of art from Britain, including Henry Moore, Stanley Spencer, William Roberts, Walter Sickert, Lucian Freud, L S Lowry, JMW Turner, John Hoyland and Peter Lanyon.

A couple of Antony Gormley sculptures take pride of place at the entrance to the gallery.

The forthcoming Sidney Nolan exhibition containing his Ned Kelly work will be worth seeing as well.

The gallery is spacious and well laid out. It was not too busy on my visit.

Admission is free
