Description: Ombra Salumi Bar is based on the ideals of preservation and enjoyment. Inspired by the ‘Salumerie’ of Italy Ombra will focus on delivering highest quality cured meats. This preservation refers to the produce as well as the preservation of lifestyle and culture. This makes the most of nature’s abundance by using techniques that for centuries have prolonged nature’s bounty through processes like drying, smoking, salting, fermenting, pickling and candying.

Got the last table at 7.30pm on a Saturday night. The atmosphere was good in this small intimate restaurant. The menu included a choice of 6 different salumi and 6 cheeses plus many other small and large tapas dishes. We had some excellent salumi plus a large plate of lightly battered calamari and the lamb ribs with chili jam. The lamb tasted good but was exceedingly fatty (a lot more than usual. Our servers were most helpful and friendly. With two drinks the bill came to AUS$80.

This is a cafe restaurant is a very unassuming place, we have been here several times, it is a bit of hit and miss with staff, some are very knowledgeable about the menu, but the food is worth it, they also have a good wine list, the food is tapas style Italian which is like being in the back streets of Italy, if you go here always ask what specials they have, we had a slow cooked lamb shoulder OMG, this was so good I almost ordered it again, but overall they have something for most people.

This is a cool way to eat - delicious Italian snack plates. Everything was delicious and the portions were a great size. The service was great. Would absolutely go back.

posting this quite a way away from my bad experience. being Italian, I find it very difficult to be taken out (for my birthday surprise) to a mediocre Italian place. the decor is appalling (were they all free posters from the suppliers?). my girlfriend specifically booked there because of the table with a view over Bourke Street. she was assured that was going to be our table. it was a Sunday night. no one around, but the table was full... with another party. we did not complain, we said nothing. I did not want to complain on my birthday. after the polite waitress clearly showed again (and why do they keep doing this?) that if you are not Italian, you should be briefed about the food you are serving by the manager/kitchen, we opted for pizza and a few "salumi". ok, we left as fast as we could. nothing memorable, except the zero view of our table. disappointing.

We went there with some friends. First of all it was impossible to talk because the music was really loud.
The venue is nice but the food very average. The meatballs were good but all the rest wasn’t great.
Service was disappointing as the waiter didn’t know anything about the wine and the food. Not a place where I will go back
