RBG Melbourne is so close to the city you can literally walk there, or if you are feeling lazy it is a short tram ride along Swanston st. There is so much lawn for picnics, just reading a book, having a nap, doing some exercise or just having a stroll. If you are a plant collector or love gardening you will froth over the collection of plants, most are labelled so remembering what they are is a bit easier. Bring a water bottle as there are places you can refill for free. There is a children's garden if you have kids. The cafe is a little bit expensive but good quality. This is an ideal place to people watch early on a weekend morning with lots of runners doing laps of "the tan".

I visited this beautiful place with my teenage family and 2 cavaliers. We had such a relaxing time and the gardens were beautiful. What a magnificent haven in the heart of our city.

This is a great place to escape the city. May be bring a rug or towel as the ground can be damp in winter and at this time of the year. The trees and gardens are a great escape from the busy city

It’s the best place near the city to relax and enjoy a beautiful walk. It’s so big that actually takes about 2 hours to see all the spots in. The lake is amazing and you can also rent a gondola. Ideal to take your book and read, do some yoga or just enjoy the view. You can also find different types of plants and read the tags with the info about them.
Highly recommend it!
