After visiting the Shrine of Remembrance, a visit to the Royal Botanic Gardens was a terrific way to end the day. We had lunch at the tea garden and then walked around viewing the beautifully laid out gardens and trees and listened to the amazing sound of the bell birds. I'll have to book a tour on my next visit to save my feet :)

Beautiful gardens and it's also free! Would definitely recommend spending some time here if in Melbourne.

American cousin wanted to visited the Gardens and we were happy to explore these beautiful gardens with him. Had a lovely afternoon tea at the lakeside restaurant. The fern gully was peaceful and majestic. The highlight for me was the Arid Garden area and Guilfoyle’s “volcano” ( which is of course no volcano but the source of irrigation collecting storm water from surrounding neighbourhood). The architectural beauty of the cacti and succulents in this area was stunning. Walking along the riverside section offeredgreat views of the Sporting Mecca of Melbourne and the CBD. A great highlight of natural Melbourne.

The Botanical Gardens is one of the must see places in Melbourne. I recommend a circular walk around the lake. For the more adventurous try a run around the famous “ Tan” track which should take about 20 minutes. Afterwards try a coffee at L’Entrecote in Domain Road.
